New Graduate PN Job Help

U.S.A. Massachusetts

Published

Hi,

I just graduated from the LPN program in June and I'm taking my boards this month and I'm getting started on the job search. I've been looking at craigslist and indeed.com but was hoping for other advice on where to look for good LPN jobs. I live in MA, on the north shore. I have a years experience as a CNA. Any help is appreciated.

Thank you,

Jess

Hi Jess, if the nursing market in MA is anything like it is here in southern CA, then LPNs are a dime a dozen and jobs are extremely competitive. When I got my license last year I applied practically everywhere online. What seemed to really work for me is actually doing the footwork and hand carrying my resume into places. Some facilities will interview you on the spot. And the places with the best job opportunities don't usually advertise online. Hope this helps! :-)

Specializes in Pedi.

Craigslist and Indeed are the best sites to find postings on, IMO. You could also search for individual LTCs in your area... hospital jobs for LPNs in MA are non-existent and most Home Health Agencies and Physician's Offices that hire LPNs want someone with at least some experience.

Specializes in Med-Surg, Ortho, Subacute, Homecare, LTC.

There are a few group home/homecare places that hire new grads. The few that I can think of off the top of my head include: PSA Healthcare and Bamsi.

Look into Genesis Healthcare..they are all over the place and hire LPNs. I am an RN but that is where I started, I worked with a lot of LPNs. The experience is good..especially if you can get on the rehab/transitional care units. Also, Wingate Healthcare hires LPNs too. I am currently working for one in Worcester, that specializes in neuro-rehab. I work with vents/trachs, and work with a lot of LPNs as well :)

Thanks so much!
