denial of license
As a California resident, I've always understood that out of state nursing licenses won't be recognized without some additional education because of different licensing requirements. It's definitely not due to a saturation of nurses. California does this with many professional licenses though. My father-in-law became a licensed electrician out of state and had to take some additional training before his license would be recognized here. I heard New York is the same way.

Is having an ADN really a terrible choice?
I think the benefits of having an ADN greatly depend on where you live. Speaking as an LVN in southern CA, the market is so ridiculously saturated with LVNs as well as ADNs. I'm taking the LVN to BSN bridge because I have no other choice. LVNs were phased out of hospitals here and ADNs are quickly heading down the same path. It's near impossible to find work here as a new grad ADN or LVN, yet schools are pumping them out by the hundreds. I'm sure there's many opportunities for ADNs in other parts of the country, but it's not the best choice in my neck of the woods.

New Graduate PN Job Help
Hi Jess, if the nursing market in MA is anything like it is here in southern CA, then LPNs are a dime a dozen and jobs are extremely competitive. When I got my license last year I applied practically everywhere online. What seemed to really work for me is actually doing the footwork and hand carrying my resume into places. Some facilities will interview you on the spot. And the places with the best job opportunities don't usually advertise online. Hope this helps! :-)
