Hi,

Just starting my application for the 2017 Fall entry- wondering if there is anyone else here who is starting too, or anyone from previous years who would be willing to give us some insight?

Thanks

LWU

Oh my gosh you're gonna make me vomit from nervousness, lol. I don't have an advisor so I'm wondering if I missed something somewhere along the way?? And if they're mailing out decision letters then it'll be a few days before we receive something, right? I haven't received anything via mail, email, or phone. And actually, I submitted my fall grades kind of late and I believe they just received my official transcript in the mail a few days ago. So I doubt they've even made a decision on me.

Did you call your advisor to ask and that's how you got this information?

I'm SO sorry I didn't mean to freak you out- I applied for the Dix Scholar BSN which is why I have an advisor! I had read somewhere on older threads that people got a call but who knows. What did you apply for?

Oh I applied to the Direct Entry MSN! But I just took a look at that forum and several people have gotten acceptances (by mail) over the last few weeks.

That's a great program, I would have loved to apply to that but I needed to do the BSN over 2 years part time for family reasons so my plan is to do that first and then look at masters programs. To quote the advisor EXACTLY:

You should receive your letter in the next week or so. Have a great weekend!

So I think they are in the mail but of course if you are further from Boston, it may take longer!

I'm in San Diego, which is about as far as you can get from Boston.

Good luck to you!!

Yep so it must be on it's way! Best of luck to you too! I only applied to Simmons so if I don't get in this year, i;ll just have to reapply next year. Is Simmons your top choice? I'm lucky to be in Boston so I have been to a lot of the info sessions, if there is anything I can help with let me know

My application status is still "File Under Review for Completion." Like I said, they JUST received my transcript for the fall semester, so I don't think they've actually mailed my letter yet. í ½í¸ž

I don't really have a top choice, I'll be stoked to get in anywhere honestly. (I applied to seven programs.) Buuut of all the cities where I applied Boston is definitely my top choice, lol. I applied to Simmons, MGH, and Northeastern there. I've never to Boston but everyone speaks so highly of it and in pictures it looks so gorgeous!

What attracted you to Simmons?

So glad I found this forum! I have been anxiously awaiting to hear back from a lot of schools (still waiting on about 7 to be exact). MGH also just received my fall grades last week. I've lurked through past forums and it looks like applicants are notified around the second week of February. The wait has been killer, I'm really just hoping to get in somewhere at this point!! @blessingoverflow I'm also from CA! Up north though :) Good luck to you and everyone else who's waiting to hear a decision!

Also, what track did you apply for?

@blessings

I went to info sessions at both MGH and Simmons. Honestly, they both seem great. I was really attracted to MGH for its emphasis on diversity and how the had faculty working in international public health because thats sort of a dream job for me. However, I have to say, I loved the incredibly nurturing vibe at Simmons, it's so small and you can tell has a long history of supporting adult learners. Their lab is incredible, the clinicals are all in top notch Boston hospitals and their syllabus is so rigorous. They take their reputation very seriously and want only top notch nurses graduating from their program. The major downside, at least for the adult BSN was there is basically no scholarship, just one of about 1200$ total. In contrast, I heart MGH does give generous scholarships.

To be honest, I did not really have a "choice" between schools ( mind you I haven't even gotten in anywhere yet!) because MGH did not have a non accelerated BSN and Simmons is the only school here that lets you do a BSN over two years instead of 15-18 months like all the other accelerated BSN programs. This is also why I didn't apply to DE MSN at Simmons, because you have to the BSN portion accelerated.

All in all, if I had a 2 year option at MGH and they gave me more scholarship I would have gone there. But if I take that out of the equation and just for a second assume all is equal on that front, I would pick Simmons for their clearly well organized, well respected and supportive environment.

( again, only speaking in theoreticals! who knows if I'll get in anywhere)

Specializes in Adult Internal Medicine.

Both are very good programs.

Hi! So I saw some of your previous posts and was wondering if I could get some insight from you!

I was was just wondering what kind of GPA and stuff would be good for a direct entry program! Anything will be helpful 2MzmrmldDUluFszY4BeNRUhFw8YnK8nLzkBNSYABAA==

I'm a biology major with a psych minor. I had pretty bad grades but was able to bring up my GPA to a 3.17 and I plan on finishing my degree with a 3.3

I have a B+ in micro, anatomy 1&2, and a C in stats and am currently taking developmental psych and nutrition! I'm currently retaking stats

what do you think?
