Tell me about Genesis LTC GNA course/job!

Hi I saw a listing for Genesis GNA course and job. Appearantly they are all over MD. Whats the course like and how much is paid during and after the course? thanks in advance.

I would suggest red cross as well its costly but you have no commitment. Some of those programs if you break the contract you will have to pay double of what you would pay going to a private program!

I live in southern Maryland and took the GNA course at a local nursing home. This was about 5 years ago. It took about 5 weeks. They paid $5.15 and hour during the class, and 9.15 after. With a dollar raise once I took the state test.

If I didn't work for them for a year after the class ending than they took $150.00 from your last paycheck to pay for the class. Still alot cheaper than the local colleges. I ended up staying for them for a few years though.

I took the CNA/GNA course at Genesis. It's free as long as you work there for a year. The only thing I had to pay for was the book ($40). This was almost five years ago. If you didn't work there as a GNA for one year you would have to pay them $1150 for the class (they keep your last paycheck and you pay the difference). My advice to you is to take the class and work there for a year. When the year is up start looking for another job, preferably in a hospital. Good luck !!!

I applied for the Genesis near me and didn't like it. I can't believe they charge that much for the course! It doesn't cost that much at the college.

If you work there for one year you don't have to pay anything. If you leave before a year then you would have to pay for the class. I think they charge so much for the class because I can imagine there were some people in the past who took the class to get cna/gna certification and quit soon after.

I assume you are talking about Genesis Healthcare.

All I have to say about them is BLEH.

Bleh is all I will say about them. Take it at a community college. There are FAR better ltc's out there.
