THEY'RE BAAAAACCKKK!!!

Oh, the horror. I can remember when I first encountered them 17 years ago. I was just finishing up the 6th grade and I SWORE that I'd be in Canada when they returned. Instead I find myself back here from Boston and a few years later they've returned. UGH. They are soooo gross!!

The worst part is when they cover the ground so much that you can't help but crunch on them on your way up the sidewalk/to the car/on the patio. And of course the dogs love to eat them and then throw them up. :stone

Gross. Anyone else have them yet?

by the way - are you the poster formerly known as Mel D? ;)

Yup. Changed my user name. How astute of you!

I was at my parents' today (they live in Balto. county) and they are definitely out and about. My dog was going nuts chasing them. I watched some mating, others molting and doing other unseemly things. Ick. So far they haven't made it into the city, thank goodness.

i might be a little slow but what type of buga are you talking about??:imbar

They are on the way here..but have not seen any yet.

Nasty, icky 1 1/2" long winged yucky shedding their outer shells living in the ground for 17 years then come out and make outside unbearable bugs.

You may not have them in FL. I would not plan a trip to the Midwest anytime soon.

But the birds will get big and fat eating them, until they can't stand them anymore.

Have you ever seen a robin have difficulty with takeoff because he's eaten too many cicadas? :chuckle

We have those bugs here in Texas, too. Not only are they the ugliest, grossest things, they are so freaking noisy!

Can't believe they've been gone 17 years!?!?

Boy are they LOUD!!!!!! They're really coming out in full force now. And the stench of their decaying bodies is already quite pervasive.

I know I'm going to regret this but....I can't wait to see it. Bugs don't scare me, bring em on baby.:rotfl:

I heard on the news the other day that a man was rushed to the hospital because he had a allergic reaction to them.

Yes folks you guessed it he sauted them in basil and butter and ate them.

I have a strong stomach, but the thought of the stench alone makes me want to wretch. :stone

Is there anything people won't do?
