Hi all,

I am a New Grad from NY, havent taken my Nclex yet just graduated on 5/18/12. I am moving to MD in a few short week and would like to get my license their since that is where i wilol be living but the MDBON website is very unhelpful. What do I need to do to apply in MD? I emailed someone for the forms and it should be coming in the regular mail soon.

Congrats on graduating! Good luck on NCLEX. When ever you come to MD, go to Baltimore to the MDBON. That's the ONLY way you'll get answers. Forget e-mails, phones, SOS or doves. With MDBON, everything is better done face to face.

and bring a book, a big bottle of water and your lunch. it'll be a long, hellish day there in the waiting room!

actually, when i went to the mbon a few months ago i was in & out after 10 minutes:eek::eek:. i was quite shocked!! and when i passed the nclex, i had my license # the next business day (took my test friday, had license on monday morning). of course, it could have been the time of day & time of year too. i went around 4 pm. and it was in latemarch/early april..i guess that's a slow time of year. i imagine now that it will be somewhat chaotic.

anyways, you need to get your background check & fingerprints done first. you have to take the paper to provide proof that you've done it when you go to the board. there is a place inside of the mall where the bon is located where you can get this done, it costs $57.25 i think maryland board of nursing - criminal history records check for nclex, endorsement and 1st-time cna applicants

also, you have to bring the application filled out by your school. i think you can request it from the board. you will need a 2x2 passport photo to attach to the form. the application fee is $100. and then when you get there, you have to fill out a declaration of state form. here's the link that provides a little more information maryland board of nursing - nclex application instructions for a us trained rn

and of course, fill out your application to pearson vue & pay $200. good luck & congrats!

Congrats on graduation! I'm from NY, grad and licensed in NY in 2009 and moved to MD a month ago. I honestly had no problem with getting my license in a timely fashion. I sent for the forms, got fingerprinted, sent money for both a temp and permanent license and got my temp license within two weeks and my permanent license in about a month. I called them twice with various questions and never had an issue getting a response. Maybe my experience was different but it was super easy for me. Good luck!

It only took me a week. But I sent my application to Pearson Vue first before I took my papers to the BON (my school took FOREVER to sign off on our forms lol). To make things go faster, use your e-mail address when dealing with Pearson Vue. It's faster. Those who get correspondence from them via snail mail tend to wait longer.
