I plan to pursuit my career through LVN and so on to get more experience until I'm ready for RN. I just want to know how many guys here are LVN current.

Specializes in ER, ICU, Family Practice.

I'm in my last month of LPN school

I am an LPN working on my RN. I worked a variety of areas before getting back into school: Psych (long term and acute, both inpatient), an Internal Medicine Clinic, when I was mobilized I worked in an immunization clinic and for an optometrist, and finally long term care. If you are planning to get your RN (and I would HIGHLY suggest this) I would actually suggest you try your hand at long term care. In that environment you will be exposed to various chronic disease processes, wound care, some post surgical care, and other aspects of nursing that you may not get to see in other areas (at least not in the variety that you will see there). You will also be forced to get your time management skills down, and you will be exposed to death and dying (you NEED to know how to deal with this on a inter and intrapersonal level). Don't just go to any facility, look for a place that has a decent patient:nurse ratio and seems to be well run.

As an aside: I would suggest AGAINST taking a job in a clinic. The work is easy, however if you spend more than a year in that environment you start to lose essential skills IMHO.

Im a new male LPN (just licensed this week), and i have not started working yet (not sure where i want to work). But i thought i'd work for 4mo to a year to gain some experience and save money before i complete my RN also.

Goodluck in what U decide!

I got my LPN about 9 months ago and have been working LTC. Currently in a Lpn-Rn bridge program.

Not quite a graduate yet.....September 25th, I will be walking across the stage....Then off to RN school in Jan....Man I love being a nurse!!!!!
