Okay, I'm an LVN and I'm working on prereq's for my ADN. I'm trying to decide which program to prepare for-one's an LVN bridge(no Stats but very expensive)and the other's a regular ADN program!! This program requires Statistics and I'm terrified because: (1) not sure what this class entails-heard it was Math!! (2) I'm really horrible at Math and this is the only class that's got me concerned. :uhoh3: Can someone tell me what to expect and what classes may help prepare me.

P.S. I do plan on getting my BSN in the future so I guess Stats is inevitable at some point! TIA :nurse:

If you are planning on getting your BSN, you might as well get it over with . I am terrible at math and it was by far the hardest course I took. I was known to leave the class, go to the bathroom, cry, wash my face and return. It was TERRIBLE for me. That being said, it was temporary, I survived. It was the only "B" I got in my BSN course, but with the help of family, friends and strangers, I made it through. You can too. I still don't understand the purpose of the course, since it does not apply to nursing, but there you go. Just get it over with and you won't have it looming over you.

I have my statistics final exam tomorrow night, I can't wait to get it over with.

Do your homework on instructors teaching the class, research on ratemyprofessor.

Fortunately, my instructor knows that the vast majority of her class are not math majors so she makes the class fairly easy. We have open book tests, no memorizing of formulas but you still have to know how to solve a problem.

Stats sucks...its an evil necessity for my RN program and BSN. In a bit more than 24 hours I'll finally have that class behind me.

Here's a funny statistic from google search of "I hate statistics":

Results 1 - 10 of about 34,700,000 for i hate statistics

My stats prof showed this in class last week. Everything said in this video is accurate, too, so save it to your favorites and watch it when you need a bit of a boost.

Actually, stats is a tough course but you can get through it. Don't let it intimidate you---the important thing is that you know the principles and are able to look at a research article and get an idea of what the researchers are trying to say. The number-crunching is a pain in the neck but remember, you are learning the basic principles so you can apply them to what you read.

You can do this, Purple!

I take my stats final on Thursday and I am taking an advanced stats course over the summer. Masochist? No. Grad student. :lol2:

I absolutely HATED stats! I did all the homework, worked with a study group, never missed a class. Our instructor was BAD! He missed about 6 lectures out of the semester and we were still required to know the material. I was ready to drop at mid-term, but my hubby talked me into finishing the class. I got a "C" and ran with it. The only "C" I've ever had, but I got the credits and they transferred to my 4 year college. I have no idea why this is a required class, but it is. Good luck with it!

Hey, I'm not choosy!! I'll take a "C". Math is just one of those things that I have no interest in-I'm a Science, History type of girl! So a "C" would suit me just fine!!
