Maxed out on credits?

So I have one more level of the LPN program (15 credit hours). I was planning to split my class load to maximize my chances of getting back into the RN program (I failed). So I just got the news that I have 71 credits and 72 is where I max out. If I post pone graduation until spring then I will have to appeal but if I do take it in the fall in one shot then I won't have to appeal. Here are my 2 biggest concerns:

1.) what can you do if you loose an appeal?

2.) is my credits life increased once I go for my ADN?

My school is private and I can't pay out of pocket. My GPA is 2.79 and I wanted to do part time study to not risk dragging my GPA any lower. Help me!!

You should speak to your nursing advisor, especially since this is a private school and you haven't identified which one. Each school has its own requirements.

I'm going to talk to my financial aid advisor in person on Monday. I wonder if I can delete credits off of my transcript?

No. I'm sure you can't delete credits from your transcript.

I'll ask. I read on here that someone was able to at their college. I don't mean grades, I just want to void out the credit. I have 9 credits of pre-requistes that have nothing to do with nursing.

Voiding credits can be considered fraud. You may be able to appeal to go over credits if you have an extenuating circumstance.

You will have to fill out an appeal form with your schools financial aid office. I had 213 credit hours prior to going back to get my ADN. (I have 2 previous degrees). I am still eligible for financial aid. They just have to verify that you are "on target" to complete your current program and not just screwing around without a purpose.

How is it fraud? My previous credits were for the radiology program which I'm not doing anymore.

You cannot erase what already was done. Regardless if you progress or finish the other program. Everything counts if college level credit for progress towards a degree. It doesn't reset as you move diploma to AS to BS to MS just the number of credits to advance increases. Appeals are often granted for lower number of credits needed (such as need 15 credits) but there is no guarantee. Appeals are not commonly granted for diplomas more so for associates and bachelors if near completion and if you have no repeated failed or withdrawn courses it helps. (Even withdrawn classes can count against you as it's not only total number of credits but credits attempted vs credits completed)

Federal student aid counts all credits taken ever at all schools you have attended even if you change programs, failed the class, or paid for them yourself. It doesn't matter whether individual schools "delete" credits in terms of GPA or whatnot, the federal government will still count them.

The maximum lifetime is 150% of the number of credits required in your current program. So... it should increase if you go on to an ADN program. If an ADN requires 72 credits in the curriculum, then the maximum you can get financial aid for is 108 and that includes all previously attempted credits ever in your life ever. Ever.

I'll add (with extreme caution that this is anecdotal and implies no sort of guarantee) that schools are usually pretty lenient with appeals. They want you to take classes there and the tuition that goes along with it. If you don't get financial aid, there's a good chance they won't get that money. They just need the appropriate paperwork on file when the feds audit them and ask why this ineligible person got aid.

Transcripts. Databases. Student records. Lying or concealing is always found out. I paid cash at the county college and schools always ask for my transcripts even if irrelevant
