lpn to bsn/rn or rn to bsn

whats the difference between lpn to bsn and lpn to rn? when you become a lpn can you take the nclex and become a rn then apply for a rn to bsn program?

There are a few routes you can take once you become a LPN to get to BSN. You can bridge from LPN to RN and then bridge to BSN or you can go LPN to BSN. Either way somewhere along the route you need to sit and pass NCLEX to work as a RN

BSN or BN is accepted and is a degree. Mostly required if looking at furthering self to something higher like NP etc

RN is a type of nursing license, while BSN is a type of nursing degree.

I personally worked as an LPN for several years before completing an LPN-to-ASN (associate of science in nursing) degree completion program that led to RN licensure. I am now enrolled in an online RN-to-BSN degree completion program with a few more credits to earn before I receive the BSN degree.

As the previous poster mentioned, an LPN can totally bypass the ASN degree and simply complete an LPN-to-BSN degree completion program that leads to RN licensure.

There are two different NCLEX Exams. After PN school you will take your NCLEX-PN exam. Then you will have to do an LPN-RN bridge program and take your NCLEX-RN exam. After that you can do an RN-BSN program. Or you can just do a BSN program and take the NCLEX-RN.

After you complete the LPN program and pass the NCLEX-PN then you would have to complete an RN propgram and pass the NCLEX to become an RN. If you got your ADN then you would have to take an RN-BSN program to get your bachelors. Or you could take an LPN-BSN bridge and go straight for a BSN.
