How many hours do you work?

How many hours a week do most of you work as an LPN while pursuing your RN?

I was just accepted into a bridge program and even though they recommend cutting your hours down,

in this economy, it is not always an option.

Specializes in Allergy and Immunology.

I work on-call at Chem Health facility as an LPN on weekends. I avg about 12.5 hrs a week there, then I have a full time (40hrs/wk) M-F office job. So that can be anywhere from 52.5 hrs one week or sometimes, but not alot, I have a 7 day grueling work week. I worked both weekend days and they are 12.5 hr shifts sat and sun so that would be 65hrs  for 1 week. I have done this while taking 8 credits (2 day classes M-TH). I am doing my pre-reqs and waiting to apply to RN bridge program in a few weeks. So yeah... basically all I do is work, no social life. luckily I dont have kids, hubby works/has school alot too.

I work 40 hours a week. I am in a regular ADN program, not a bridge, and am about to enter my third semester.

I have clinical once a week on Monday. My lecture courses are online. I'm taking med-surg II, community health, and mental health.

Next semester I'll be with precepting hours to complete along with clinicals. So far the first two semesters I worked full-time and plan to this semester, but with precepting I'll likely cut back to 32 hours? We'll see...I love my job!:yeah:

I work every weekend so that I can focus primarily on school during the week. I work the weekend Baylor as an LPN in a nursing home--12 hours on Saturday, 12 hours on Sunday:paid for 32 hours.

I have a curiousity. I'm not sure if anybody wants to answer this, but I hope someone will (attempt).

Granting that an LVN/LPN works an average of 40 hours a week, what's the take home pay of that person? I mean, less expenses, how much on average does an LVN/LPN get paid (minus the deductions like taxes, etc.)?

Just wondering if the google estimates make sense.

Also, I'm trying to see if changing a career at this point will make financial sense.

Thanks ahead to whoever will produce an answer...some estimate, that is.

I bring home about 1,200 every 2 weeks. I'm a new nurse (almost 2 years) so I'm sure there are plenty of LPNs making more.
