Anybody here still in the LPN program??

Hello. Yes, I am currently finishing up in my LPN program...graduation is September . I plan to begin pursuing my RN through Excelsior in October or November. The major advice that I've been given is to make a time table, stick to it, and stay organized. Hope that's at least somewhat helpful.

I'm a few months in to my LPN program, will graduate in the spring and and plan to start the LPN-RN next fall. I've been taking all the sciences and only have Micro left, but I am taking it this fall concurrently with my LPN class. I've had a hard time deciding whether to do LPN-RN or LPN-BSN but the LPN-BSN program here requires you to work as a LPN for a year before starting, so I could have my RN a whole year sooner by just doing LPN-RN.

hi im an lvn/lpn student graduating in december. the best advice i was given before starting is to volunteer for every procedure your instructor puts out there. also read the chapters ahead of time, it helped me understand the material better ofcourse this is not always possible. goodluck

Thanks for all the advice :) I am so nervous...my instructor told me that almost half the people in the last LPN class didn't make it Sounds a little scary if you ask me.

Keep in mind that people have to drop for all sorts of reasons. In the LPN programs, since they don't have all the pre-reqs that RN programs do, some students haven't done this amount of work before - if you've done all your RN prereqs, you should be adequately prepared for the workload. Also, the first night of my class our instructor told us that there is at least 1 person in every class who gets pregnant and can't make it through the class - and it's usually because they took and antibiotic with their birthcontrol and didn't use extra protection! She offered to buy condoms for anybody on antibiotics! :) What I've noticed is that the students who are the most driven to continue their education will succeed.

You'll be fine! Sit back and relax until you start class - well, and do a little shopping, that always helps with stress! If you already have your supply list you could start getting some of that as well.

Lana, I guess that's true. For some reason when you hear about the people who don't make it you automatically think that its program related(too hard etc etc) I am VERY determined so hopefully everything turns out okay :) I guess I was also concerned about how I am going to juggle 3 kids, a school and a new part time job. I know people do this all the time but WOW it sounds like alot :lol

I can't say that I have any advice since I am finishing up with my LPN program this fall and will start my RN next fall. I guess I just wonder how much different the class load will be. So far the LPN part has not been a breeze but I have heard our class is being taught at the RN level, however true that is. Anyway as far as the ones who don't make it goes we started out with about 30 in our class and now have less that 20 so we have lost a few but most of them were not dedicated to doing the program provided that some of them had other things going on as well.
