new lpn student tired of school already, needs motivation

My advice would be to stick it out for the year. You will be done in less time, and reach your goal faster. After you finish you will have more time for a social life. As students, we all know you must make sacrifices in order to finish nursing school. Even the two year program will require you to make sacrifices, but wouldn't you want to get it over with sooner? When you make it to the end, you will thank yourself.

Keep your chin up, there are lots of people in the same boat as you.

If you absolutely MUST transfer, you need to do what is best for you. Choose the option that will get to your goal in the best way.

thanks, i would rather get it over with , i really do like my program and im doing good when others are failing, this will be the longest year of my life, i heard all the stories about not having a life and always studying but now im living it, i just think its way more than i expected, but im up for the challenge

Just tough it out.

My program is 22 months and I'm almost done. It's gone by so fast >.

You wont regret staying in school =) Just know your priorities!

Its really hard to stay focused and motivated. I think everyone loses motivation at some point in school. Just remember why you're doing this.

I was in a 11 month 5 day a week full time LPN program. I also worked 25-30 hrs a week on top of that. I barely got sleep, studied my butt off, became addicted to coffee and was a little on edge most of the time but I got through it and just passed my nclex! it is worth it. stick with it. find what works for you. some nights before a major test i would just relax and go out to dinner and not study as hard and I felt like that little break gave me a nice boost of confidence and energy I needed. If you are doing so well continue and keep your head up. Do you have any type of support system? My fiance and whole family really helped and understood what I was going through. Good luck with whatever choice you make!

Please don't give up !!! Thank about how much you and your son will benefit from you being a LPN. I felt the same as you when I was in LPN school. However, time flies by soooo fast. Before you know it you will be done. Once you are done you can take your boards and get a job. You can work earning a decent pay as a LPN while getting RN and you will get great nursing experience too. Don't give up !

I dont know about you but I feel like i've been jumping through hoops to get through the beginning steps of applying, testing, and all that with work and a child. Just remember how excited you were when you found out you were accepted and hold onto that.

I completely know how you feel. I am in my 2nd semester and I was exhausted and unmotivated. My instructor calls it burnout and everyone goes through it. Although my grades are still good, I haven't studied nearly as much this semester and it shows. I have 3 1/2 months left and it feels like an eternity. My instructor suggested we write down all the reasons why we are in nursing school in the first place and take a hard look at them. Just remembering why you are there should help revive you. She also told us to repeat to ourselves that we will not let our instructors beat us. We can do this. I know it sounds crazy, but it helps. Good luck and please don't give up.

thanks a lot all of you, i have always wanted to be a nurse and im gonna finish this, i cannot fail because im a single mother and have to set an example for my daughter, i have a great support system and thats why my grades are good now because they are there whenever i have to study or need a break, failure is not a option i have to many people counting on me

thank you for posting this! I'm 25 with a 2 year old and everyone who has taken the LPN course says that i will not be able to do anything with my son. That scares me because he's my baby..and he also little and i LOVE spending as much time with him as possible. But in the long run it will be good for us to finish school for them and be able to provide for them :)

well im doing it, and im gonna make, my instructor told us that a girl graduated with 8 kids last semester, so i know if she can doit we can, just study everyday, even if u think you dont have to, thats how i ace all my test, i study 2-3 hours a day, im just tryna keep it up for a year, studying makes me go nuts, so i guess ill be nutty for a year but it will pay off

this will be the longest year of my life

no kidding, but you knew that going in! and forget about a social life for a while. it's way more important to finish school and have a job that hopefully will provide for you and your child.

accept your responsibility and go forward. time passes quickly and before you know it, you'll be through. make the best of this time.

your friends, a social life, and fun will be there when you're finished w/NS and you'll have something to be proud of.
