LPN school interview in 20 days HELP!!!

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

:confused:I passed the NET even though I really thought I had failed. Now I have an interview on May 27, and I am so nervous! I have applied at a Vo-Tech in S. Oklahoma and out of a few hundred applicants they only take 24 full time and 12 part time students so I need all the help I can get! I am 36 and a stay at home mom. I did get CNA and CHHA certifications as well as taking a medical terminology course in preparation. I have read lots of info on these boards about interviews, but I still need more. If they don't want to hear " I want to help people" what do they want to hear? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Just be honest! They will want to know why you want to be a nurse, what experience's you may have, what previous education you may have, and what area of nursing you are interested in. Try not to be nervous and look confident. Good Luck!!

my best advice is to relax. which was not what i did on my interview. the director knew i was married to graduate a few yearws ago. but thats it

i was a nervouse wreck, i kept going to the bathroom while i was waiting in the lobby. i was pmsing, the state was at my facility. you get the picture.

theyll definetly ask you why you want to be a nurse. dont BS her with "i just want to help people." if more people were honest, theyd admit it was about helping themselves. i told her it was about 50/50 for me. i wasnt going to lie. imagine how many people she interviewed that tryed to pimp that speech. be honest.

800 people took the test. 200 passed and got an interview. 60 got in. tough odds. you can do it, you just have to show them that you really want it. and that you are willing to work your but off to graduate.

i had to retake my test and raise my scores to show her that i wanted it.

and i got it. i start 8/26, i actually cried when i got the acceptance packet.

I go to the same program you applied for. Here are my tips. No panty lines or thongs for the interview. Make sure your nails are clean and neat. Hair away from face and not off the wall colors. No tatoos showing. Hide the cleavage. Simple jewelry. Professional dress and wear panty hose if you wear a dress. I would wear closed toe shoes or dress sandels. Don't be nervous. Our instructors are great. If I can think of anything else I will send more advice. And no face jewelry.

Good luck

I would like to echo what the other posters have said. Dress conservatively and professionally, be honest, and try to relax. I was incredibly nervous about my interview, but I just answered all the questions honestly and I did fine. The nursing director actually handed me my acceptance letter at the end of the interview, because she said it was pointless for me to have to wait 3 days to hear what she knew already. When you're asked why you want to be a nurse, let them know why YOU want to be a nurse. Your answer should be a reflection of your personal experience--that's why 'I want to help people' is not a good answer.

first, congrats on the net! second, you have recieved some very great advice! you only get one chance to make the first impression. besides your attire being simple and neat, wear little to no perfume, sit with confidence. hold your head up and your shoulders back. relax. please shut off your cell phone! every nurse or student nurse has a "moment" when they knew why they wanted to become a nurse. i shared mine with my admissions director and it made an impact on her. when you start into school and begin to attend your clinicals, the first thing your patient/client will notice is your confidence. that alone will make them feel at ease with you taking care of them. remeber that your best asset is your smile. :heartbeat:nurse::yeah:

My interview is for June 3rd, I am really excited....and a little nervous...this thread has helped alot. :)

I just got accepted into my lpn program:caduceus:. it was based on a point system and thank goodness we didnt have an interview. i wish you the best in your interview!!!!! :stdnrsrck:

I passed the entrance exam, and have been invited to interview at Childress Regional Medical Center. Have you gone to this nursing program?
