Hi guys! I am taking the entrance exam for the LPN program at ES BOCES in 11 days. I have been studying a lot but I'm still really nervous about the math section. Can anyone give me some examples of what types of questions will be on the test? I am mostly worried about the word problems. I'm really wondering about the difficulty level. Thanks for the help!!!

Just wondering because these are from a practice teas test and they are a bit out of my league. :-/

Oh so it's going to a pain for you to get there too! I went at like 3:00 in the afternoon and it was just so crazy busy in that area. And come September there will be a ton of school busses to contend with. The other campus took me 10 min to get to and the new one took me like 30 min because of all the residential single lane roads and traffic. It's going to be a stressful 6 months for me, I have to get to my kids school by 3:00 to pick them up.

Let me know if you have any other questions, I'd love to help!

Oh, yeah I didn't even think about the school bus factor. Ahhh! lol I wish they could have just left the campus where it was (haha I know that sounds so bratty, but it's true.) As usual thank you, and I'm sure something will end up coming up soon and I'll be racing to my laptop lol.

I finally finished outlining the first chapter in the big basic nursing book (I'm so anal, so I wanted to make sure I got everything.) I didn't want to "re-write" the chapter but I definitely didn't want to leave anything out either and I figured in this case it would be better to be over prepared then under prepared, and combined with it being all handwritten, it actually came out to quite a decent amount lol. My hand is def starting to hurt now and I'm not even at the halfway mark through the whole summer assignment yet lol.

I picked up my uniforms this week and was surprised to find that the patches were not already sewn on. Does anyone know what sleeve the go on and the perimeters? Also the shop to,d me I had to buy the hose style socks. Are we not allowed to wear knee high socks? I hate the hosiery material! :-/[/quote']

The patch goes on the left sleeve, 2 finger widths from the shoulder seam. Watch your fingers, it's a tough patch to get a needle through. You need the hose socks or the other knee high type sock that they sell there. They do uniform inspections and will send you home for the day if your not right, after a warning or two.

Also, remember on clinical and lab days you will need a stethoscope, pen light, scissors, a small notepad, pens (make sure one of them is red). You also have to wear your hair up off your collar, no ponytails they want buns. And no jewelry. Thy are very strict on that and you will get in trouble or sent home for the day. Some teachers make you empty your pockets to make sure you have all of your supplies. Oh and nothing visible under your scrub shirt. Make sure you get the right shoes too, they'll nail you for that too. You may want to get two pair of scrubs and you have to fit a lot in your pockets so make sure you don't get them tight. Ok I think that's all I can remember lol. Good luck!

I almost forgot. A watch! You will absolutely need that, one with a sweeping hand.

where is your school?

where is your school at SweetheartLPNtobe?

Wow! Thanks for all that info. It's all super helpful. I have a few more questions for anyone that would know. I have already had my physical but my Dr. Spilled some of her tea on the form when she was filling it out. Will that be a problem? Also, I didn't have a flu shot last year and my Dr. said they do t have them yet for this year. Do I have to have it now? I tried calling the school but no one is answering. One more question... Do the tests at the end of the tutorials ( the ones we have to print out from ati) count for a grade? If I didn't make 100 the first time should I keep taking it till I do? Thanks! :)

I don't know about the ati part yet (good question though!) but I think there is a part on the form where you can sign as a "waiver" for the flu shot. That might be your best option, also try calling the Bellport Eastern Suffolk Boces office (the phones aren't working yet in the new building, and the phones in the old building are out.)

You can't waive the flu shot, only the hep b. I saw a sign at my cvs today saying they are giving flu shots today, so they are available now. The ati is a way to see where your at. I don't know what your assignment said, if you can take it over again or not, that's something you have to look at. If you can, sure why not?

Also I have a new number for them in Brentwood 286-6748 give it a try.

Opps, the hep b and the flue vaccines are right next to each other on the form and then right underneath it says, "waiver must be signed if not receiving vaccine" so I just assumed it might count for the both of them. Opps :/

Yea they are very strict with these physical forms. Make sure you have them completely filled out, don't miss a single thing. So many people got them back for corrections more than once! The flu shot is a must, no clinical site will let you in without one. The hep b you can waive but they highly recommend getting it. And make sure you make a copy of you physical form for yourself to keep.
