Hi guys! I am taking the entrance exam for the LPN program at ES BOCES in 11 days. I have been studying a lot but I'm still really nervous about the math section. Just wondering because these are from a practice teas test and they are a bit out of my league. :-/

Well my friend is guy so I don't think it's the same person. And what?!!! No workbooks?!! I am shocked and disappointed for you. We have workbooks for level II and we had them last year. What essay do you have to write? For which class? It's good to stay out of the cliques, at least that's what I find. You can actually go online, amazon, and get the workbook. I recommend getting edition 9 because it has the answers in it. I got mine last year for $5. It really is helpful and you will see the same questions on the tests. There a lot of clique-ish people in level I this year I've noticed. I'm not one for that at all either. Too much drama for me lol.

lol, opps safe to say it def isn't the same person then lol! I know no workbooks =( It stinks, especially because I feel like they help me the most. The teachers aren't even allowed to make copies of ditto's for us so we basically beg them to let us make copies at home & then bring them back lol.

That's a really good idea about getting the edition 9 workbook (I wish I would have thought of that sooner lol) I looked up the edition 10 one on amazon & they wanted like 30 bucks & since I just finished buying some other books that I needed to help me out, I def don't have $ for that. A $5 one def works with my budget though!

Oh yes, tons of level 1 cliques! (as well as other behavior.) It seems like this years students are extremely immature, which really stinks for those of us who are mid-late twenties and up. Then again I have met a few 21 yr old students who are way more mature then the 30 yr old students so I guess it just depends. The behavior of some of the students is barbaric to me though! The other day I was sitting & enjoying my lunch outside when I overheard this girl talking on the phone to someone about how a couple of girls in the school are going to kick her a**. She was visibly upset to the point that I was going to go over to her after she finished her phone call. When all of a sudden she left in a split second & then the rest of the class filters out & I see these two girls talking very loudly & arrogantly about wanting to kick a girl in there class's butt's.Then they got in there cars & left. It all happened in a span of like 1 minute.

It's just crazy to me, I don't understand how they even let certain students in. We have an interview process for a reason lol. The only thing I can think of is that with them moving to the new building , they have alot more room & seats to fill so they just became very "lax" this year with who they are accepting. (Lol, I realize that tech I just insulted myself lol!)

The other part of me wants to think it's because of the other programs (like the CNA & MA)that they have running at the same time that certain students are there, but...well, that makes me sound like a jerk. On a side note,my dream is that they would utilize the rest of the room in the building and start an LPN to RN bridge program, somehow for us (even if it's just the adn program & not a bachelor's.) it would still be awesome. Ahh, I'm starting to blabber on sorry.

Oh, my essay is for Community Health. We have to pick a government health organization & do research etc. The annoying thing is that because of the government shutdown, most of the government websites are down,so no one's really gotten anything done & it's due on the 25th & we have like 3-4 tests that week alone, so it's really stressful. I'm hoping that they move the paper to a later date (I won't count on it) or they just nix it all together (which I REALLY won't count on lmao.)

I'm pretty sure that enrollment is down so they are just letting everyone in! Last year the standards were very high and strict. People would be sent home if they were wearing earrings with their uniform or their hair wasn't up off their neck. People were sent home if cell phones were visibly seen! Now I see people stepping outside their classrooms talking on the phone! I don't get it at all! There a ton of immature people in that school and it really gets under my skin everyday. It's supposed to be adult education and there seems to be way too many children there. I don't even want to walk in the bathroom lost times. And these children have such attitudes like they really think who they are! Ok well that was my rant lol. Yea it would be great if there was a bridge program, unfortunately for that to be happen, all of the teachers would need their masters degree to teach college credit courses. And I'm pretty sure only one teacher there has her masters. The community health is really no big deal. It's only a test and the paper. They make sure everyone passes that. The paper counts as 65% of the grade and the test counts for the rest, oh and your attendance on the test day counts towards it too. Mostly everyone got 100's on their essays last year but I can understand the frustration with the government being shut down. Did you pick an agency yet? What are they telling you to do if the websites are down? I think some people picked things that weren't on the list. Definitely ask the teacher. As far as the workbook, I'll give you mine! I just don't know who you are lol!

Yes, I couldn't agree more! Seriously! You hit the nail on the head! I can't believe the attitudes I see on a constant basis, sometimes I'm literally shocked by the things coming out of their mouth, & have to stop myself from hanging my mouth open lol. Oh yeah, whoops;I didn't even think about the fact that teachers need a masters to be able to teach college credit classes. I think my Fundamentals teacher (it's her 1st year teaching) is just about to finish her masters so, slowly but surely they are accumulating lol! I'll keep holding out hope for a bridge program. It would really be such a shame to have that entire other level & not do something extremely beneficial for us (like an RN bridge program) especially because they keep saying lately that by 2020 it will be a requirement to be an RN with a bachelor's. Oh, and Go figure just when they were thinking about possibly moving the paper back about a week or two, that the Government ends of getting their "you know what" together & there is no possibility of an extension anymore. Lmao, go figure the government ended up inadvertently screwing us over haha.

I'm not sure if I got anything, but your welcome and congratulations! Send in your papers!!!! Seriously, because it takes forever to get your ATT number!! I sent mine in while I was still in school. There is literally one lady upstate that does the ATT numbers. She even answers the phone herself if you call up there, which believe me I did a bunch of times because the wait was getting ridiculous. And I graduated at a slow part of the year, your graduating at a much busier time of year for her, at least that's what she told me. Study 2 hours a day, and study the ATI stuff you got at review week. Plan on nothing you learned from Boces to be on it. I had 40 SATA and the rest were priority. Zero math and the meds I did have Boces did not teach so I made educated guesses on them. Don't even open a Boces book to study for this test. I used only ATI. Some people I know used Saunders but I didn't like it. Practice those SATA questions as much as you can and don't forget to answer management questions when you study, I had a bunch of those too. You should really try and do 150-200 questions a day.

Mine shut off at 85 questions and I got the good pop up in the parking lot. I was lucky and I got a job and I start the RN program at Nassau in the fall. Good luck to you!!

Aww yay! Congrats! That's so exciting!! =) Ugh, I hate sata questions lol, (I'm always just 1 answer off, and am always contemplating the 1 I'm off by and the times I choose it, its not the answer, and of course the times I don't choose it, it was actually the answer- I can't win haha.) I attended the ati prep, it was informative but distracting due to some students (as is always the case in that school lol.)

I actually purchased the lippincott nclex pn alternative format questions for 2014-2015. As much as I can't stand lippincott after this year haha, it's pretty informative. All it contains is sata questions as well as a few different alternative format questions. So while it's hard, I think (and hope) it will be helpful. I also purchased that nclex pn app that everyone recommends, hopefully it all pays of (because I've certainly "paid out" lol.)

I'm so excited for you! That is awesome news =) I wanted to go into an RN program after this but unfortunately, I don't have any of the pre-reqs that are needed (I was a big screw up when I was a teenager, boy am I kicking myself now.)

I wish you the best and seriously, you were such a life savor this year and I'll never forget it. It makes me really happy to hear all of the great things happening for you, you def deserve it! =)

hi! I have to take my test next week and I'm so bad at metric conversions could you give me an example of the ones that were on the test?

could you possibly give me some pointers for the conversions I really am bad at them. I have my exam on the 7th!!
