Hi guys! I am taking the entrance exam for the LPN program at ES BOCES in 11 days. I have been studying a lot but I'm still really nervous about the math section. Just wondering because these are from a practice teas test and they are a bit out of my league. :-/

so I'm a little late lol but I'm taking my teas test on June 10....only thing is I haven't studied at all this was last minute decision...I was going to do it in April but because my math is soooooo horrible I chickened out and didn't do it but now i think I'm convinced that this is really where I want to be at in life I want to help people and I can not let fear of striking out keep me from playing the game...soooo yup I'm going in blind I'm terrified but I'm still doing it...and if I fail then ill try again...fingers crossed

Congrats loveoverpride! I guess I'll be seeing you at the workshop this month!

Yes you will =) (hopefully I will have figured out how to pay for my textbooks and uniform by then.) Paying for the background check was unexpected too (not the background check itself but the charge for it. lol) If not you'll see me panhandling in the parking lot of the workshop. (JUST KIDDING, I swear lol)

Good luck!- I just realized your test it tomorrow. Remember to eat a good breakfast and get a good nights sleep. Also, eat walnuts and "brain" food before your test, even if you don't like it. (I had a tuna sandwich at 8am before a test in the past, ugh, but it worked lol)

Oh goodness I didn't we had to pay for that then! How did You know that? How much are they? I thought we just had to have the $200 tuition payment.

I think it said $34 when I looked it up online on the website. I haven't done it yet (grocery shopping & all lol) It came with our acceptance letter (I'm pretty sure it was the last page stapled in the back, conveniently lol.) Oh, btw (I had to read it twice, because I was so excited) for it to actually click in that "duh" I'm supposed to send in that little slip attached to our acceptance letter saying that I accept my acceptance into the program. I'll be sending it out this week along with my (gulp) verification form for financial aid. Yeah, unfortunately I have the distinct pleasure of getting chosen to be verified for fafsa/financial aid(hopefully, won't be too bad considering I haven't had a job in the last year (I attended & graduated school for medical assisting which ended up being a joke) but on the plus side, no job = no taxes had to be filed lol Hopefully, everything ends up working out for the best. Fingers, toes, arms, and eyes crossed.

Ugh, with all the stress in that just came in a form of a tidal wave I don't even wanna know what my blood pressure must be. I might break the freakin sphygmomanometer!! lol

You also have to purchase the ati package, which is an online membership $300 (you have the summer to get that done) then the books, which is pretty expensive. They will give you a folder full of paperwork including the booklist and the website to buy them from. Try and get used, unless they change the edition again like they did for me. You will find all of this out at orientation. Your lucky you only had a $200 deposit, it was $600 last year. As far as what to wear, something neat and clean as they will be going over the dress code for non-uniform wearing days. No bra straps to be seen! And as they like to phrase "no whale tales". No nail polish or fake nails and any visible tattoos have to be approved. You have all summer to get the uniform which comes out to almost $50 (one set, try and get two) not including shoes. It's a lot to get started but then once you in the groove of it all, it's not so bad. Good luck!!

Ugh, I'm gonna cry. What exactly is an ati package? I was going to find a way to either rent books or buy them from someone who previously went there. Hmm, I have one little visible tattoo on my wrist (the Buddhist/Chinese symbol for Karma/Fate) I hope that ends up being ok. I already know I have to take out my tongue ring (I'm getting a little too old to still have it anyway, I honestly just keep forgetting about it lol) and well on the plus side at least I'll save money on not doing my nails.

Haha, and I guess I won't bother to wear my engagement ring lol (I'll be slightly embarrassed if someone asks to see it and my nails look like a short stubby mess, I'm a notorious nail biter hence why I usually have fake nails lmao.)

Thank you for letting me know about the ati package and the cost of it (I fear If I heard it for the first time at orientation I would have had a heart attack right then and there lol) So you most likely saved my life haha! Thank you for pretty much breaking down everything for me (and everyone else) you really have no idea how much of a help you have been, I really can't thank you enough.

You will definitely stop biting your nails when you see the things you have to touch lol! The ati package is another way they teach. It is mandatory. Definitely wait to hear about books though, they could change it from this past year. The edition changes aren't too drastic, but if you have an earlier edition you cannot use the excuse of "well it wasn't in my book". It's up to you to make sure you have the current information. They throw a lot at you during orientation, bring a pen a small pad, but don't get nervous. And definitely do the summer assignment they give you at orientation, and don't forget to bring it with you the first day of class, they take that seriously. I dont know where your orientation will be I'm sure they told you that but they are changjng campus' starting in september. Again, good luck to you!

Thank you so much! =)
