How hard is LPN school?

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

Published

I am pre-nursing student I will go to LPN school next summer. I will have to quit my current job, which is not payed bad, in order to do that. I was just wondering how hard is the LPN program? For those of you who took pre-nursing classes, how hard is compared to pre-reqs (AP, Algebra etc.)? Is it like taking 4 APs at the same time plus clinicals?

Thank you!

I just completed the 2nd of 3 levels in my LPN program...The 1st level was the most challenging for me. I was told by many RN's & LPN's that if you focus on A&P really hard & learn it inside & out, Med-Surg would be easier to grasp. I did & it has been much easier thus far. Not much helps with Pharm, lots of meds. Very glad that Pharm is over now. I pulled out 3 100's & 2 98's in the 1st level - 2 100's in the second level, but I work endlessly to do so. I too left a professional job in finance to come to school. I saved $8K & paid my mortgage ahead through graduation so I have to handle my monthly bills ($2K). Good luck to you!

Wow that was awesome... you did great :) I start level 1 in a week. I am dropping down from full time to contingent. I am trying o work every weekend friday and saturday. Very nervous about loosing hours and benefits and all the great money but I a taking a leap of faith. My god will help me through this because this is my calling. I know I will be alright.

That helps me tremendously. I appreciate any and all comments, because I am still quite unsure about all of this, if it is the right thing or not. THANKS AGAIN!

Phirstlady, I was just wondering how you are doing...If you are still around, please drop me a note! Hope all is well.

This is Karri aka karrikon. I have a month left of my first semester of LPN school, and I am making a "B" average. It has had some tough moments, but I have settled in here. Although I do not recommend it, I have been working about n0 to 60 hours a a week while in the program. Luckily, I have a job on a psych unit where I work at night and I can do my homework. This has helped tremendously!

It is very hard but doable. I would recommend if possible not working. At least your first semester. It has mostly been difficult for me because I am single and live cross country from family so financially it isnt an option not to work full time to live.

I just really schedule out my time and stay up on my reading and material, which will basically get you through. I honestly cant wait to finish because I think the emotional stress is harder than the academics. I go to a very strict school. You are threatened with being dropped all the time. Even as a good student! I am not a person who cries but nursing school did it to me.lol You want it so bad and at times you wanna give up but you cant.

You can do it! Just set your time up well and stay in your books. Nursing school is different than any other type of school and people dont always see that but it is so worth it. I finish in Jan and dont regret a moment..

Goog Luck.
