Cost of LPN school these days?

Nursing Students LPN/LVN Students

I'm just curious about what the costs for LPN school are now in different areas. I went to school in 1969 and cost of the ENTIRE course was $150 at our vocational school. This included books, two uniforms, two caps (yes, I'm old..but I loved my cap), lunches in the cafeteria during clinicals, and our graduation uniform and pin. I can't even imagine what it is now. :uhoh3:

connecticut -NETI....$25,000 for me....now @ aprox. $28,000 for evening 22 month program.

You can get a bachelors in nursing for 1/2 that @ southern..but good luck getting in..lost line of students waiting!

I graduated from a "self paced" program 2 years ago from a vo-tech school and paid a whopping $2500 for everything.

Connecticut is on o the most difficult states for nursing...low # of instructors & that reduces the amount of students taht are accepted into the program...other states don't have quite sooo long waiting lists either!

A few weeks ago CT news stated they have to decline a very large number of acceptable graded entrances to UCONN etc. due to lack of instructors.

good luck

I am going to Gurnick medical academy on san mateo, ca., the cost is $18,900 if you have the pre-req A&P and they have SLM loan for 15 years. this is last semester on CC if i pass my Microbiology.

Specializes in Home Health Care.

Our tuition is about $4600.00 for the year. Our uniform is not included. Our books are not included. Our lunch is not included. Our nursing pin (optional) is $40.00 , our (optional) cap is $10.00, the stripe is 0.50 cents. We haven't found out about what the pinning ceremony rose is going to cost yet:rolleyes: And if we want class pictures we do them on our own. Gas to & from school / hospitals has been outrageous this year. It costs a lot to go to LPN school these days. Can you imagine what it will costs 30-40 years from now?

WOW, good for you...glad to hear the entire class graduated. I'm due for graduation this year (june). What is the exit exam like..our class if frantic because we have heard a lot of "bad" new about it. Is it anything like the NCLEX prep classes..or is it different questions? We would all appreciate your input and respone. Thanks soooo much!

The exit is difficult, just keep on doing your NCLEX questions, we had the Saunders NCLEX book plus the Frey's 3000 questions. Go to Barnes & Noble and spend a few hours going over other NCLEX-PN guides plus do the CD rom that comes with the Saunders, (that's if you got the Saunder's). The Exit exam is way harder than the NCLEX. Only 1 student from our class failed the Exit the first time but passed the second. Our whole class passed the NCLEX. You can do it, just keep on studying and be prepared for lots of priority questions. Good Luck!:nurse:

Specializes in LTAC, Wound Care, Case Management.
My program in FL at a county technical school was under $2,000 including books and uniforms. I graduated last July. I had to wait a year to start, but finished by RN pre-reqs in the mean time.

What program did you attend? I'm in the process of relocating to Tampa FL and looking for LPN programs. Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. I have looked at several programs with costs ranging from $3500 - $13400. Yikes! :uhoh3:

Thanks for the pep talk..I get high 80's to 90's and feel like I can't even retain anything now. My nclex prep class I was in the "white zone" but w/ 70's and 60's. What about all those who have grades in the upper 70's and 80's...how do they do on the exit? he's not even giving us questions to study!!!

Take a deep breath and relax. I was in the white zone the whole time with high 60's and low 70's. Remember you can get a few 60's and then a 70 and still do well on the exit. If you want to, send me a private message. Good luck.

Im looking at Medical Institute located in Richmond, VA Beach and Newport News VA. The LPN is offered in Richmond, where as the other campuses offer an RN program(Richmond is suppose to get it within the next year). The LPN program is about $25000 to include $100 assurance amount each month from me, since these type of schools are not authorized full financial aid. This class last app. 18 months depending on what you walk in the door with, Im looking at about 12 months, then when I bridge add the other 6 months. The RN program is about another $2-3 to bridge. Add that on top of my $25000 already taken out to complete my Bachelors..LOL. The $25000 does not include food or gas. I am thinking about doing the traveling nursing, even with an LPN that is about $33 an hour, up to $40-45 with I get my RN.:trout:
