Nurses LPN/LVN

Hi everyone, I just have a question. I'm a new LPN, graduated last summer and passed my boards last October. Anyway here's the issue. I'm pretty much on good terms with the nurse recruiter at my old job. We've spoken a couple of times and spoke yesterday. She emailed/forwarded my resume to one of the units nurse managers back in December. She told me this yesterday and found it to be odd that I wasn't contacted. She forwarded my resume to another unit's nurse manager along with an email.

I didn't press the fact last time because it was the end of the year and the fact that at this hospital hiring doesn't pick back up until after the new year. Along with the fact that I didn't want to come across as being to pushy. I don't want to fall through the cracks again. I guess I just want to know, would it seem pushy if I paid the nurse manager of the unit a visit? The nurse recruiter is extremely busy. She's always as helpful as she can be, when I get her on the phone. Now getting her on the phone is a whole other story, lol

If you are still looking for a job, you should absolutely follow up with that nurse manager. Maybe she misfiled it. Don't look at it as being "too pushy". Think of it as aggressively "selling" yourself. Essentially that is what we all do when seeking a new opportunity. Good luck...:smokin:

Specializes in ED/ICU/TELEMETRY/LTC.

Do what you need to do to get the job if you want it. You are only being a pest when someone says to you, "You are being a pest." Good luck.

Specializes in psych. rehab nursing, float pool.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with visiting the nurse manager. Don't be afraid to sell yourself. Remind them if you have worked their unit in another capacity . Let them know what you enjoyed about your experience on their unit. If you have friends on the units also never hurts to have them put in a good word for you also.. Good luck in your job hunt.

OMG ladies hugs to you all! I swear I was sitting in class tonight after another day of feeling defeated. I basically said to myself today, that I was just going to give up and if they wanted they would contact me. Well anyway about half way through the class I just got this feeling(I really can't explain)that I would follow up with a couple of the nurse managers tomorrow. It was a feeling that really came out of no where.

I emailed the recruiter yesterday and what do you know she responded pretty quickly. She said she emailed another nurse manager or maybe the same not really sure. I spoke with one of the nm and she said she recently filled her last lpn position. She was very nice about talking with me. So I really appreciated that. I think I have about 4 more units to contact tomorrow.

Needless to say the feeling I had obviously came from you ladies sending positive vibes my way!
