Qustion.. IV Certification

Nurses LPN/LVN

Ok I should be getting my LPN license in the mail soon. The question I have is. I want to have my IV certification, but I have worked in EMS for 8 years, as an intermediate, where I did start IV"S. PLus I took IV therapy in Nusing school (I took RN classes but failed last class) so I passed that class, will this be sufficiant or do I need to go to another class? I also started many ivs in nursing school..

I dont know, but I think you have to have an actual certificate stating that you have demonstrated iv skills. My previous employer paid for a course for me to get certified. With that said though no other employer since then has asked for proof of this, I just told them I am certified.

Depending on where you are located, the license would have something on it to indicate that you are IV certified. Mine does in OH after I took an IV cert course.

Licensed as an LPN/LVN, you are required to be IV certified. After passing a separate IV cert course, my state annotates the nursing license.

What state are you in, some like GA don't require additional IV cert.
