No experience how to find a job

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hi guys,

I'm a newbie here. Just wanted to ask, because I have a dilemma. I don't have any job experience at all. and I was wondering if is that going to affect my job haunting as a LVN Nurse? (cause, most of the job prefer to have experience) and, sadly i don't have :( I'm scared that they might not hire me due to lack of experience. (but, how can i gain experience if they're not going to hire me)

Please enlighten me what should i do?

You take any job you can. You apply to absolutely every facility that hires LPNs/LVNs, no matter whether you had it on your Dream List or not. Once enough experience is gained, it's much easier to get into other jobs you might prefer.

Not every job requires experience. Be open to applications going ANYWHERE there might possibly be a job.

I've applied EVERYWHERE. Nursing homes, clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, any place on indeed.com. No one has called me back except one person. I did an interview but I don't think they were interested. I'm trying to be patient. I just started putting in apps last month but it's hard! I heard it can tKe up to 6 months to get a job.

I'm a new grad too.

If you are not already doing so, I would start applying in person especially for nursing homes. Dress professionally and bring your resume, nursing license, & CPR card if you have it. This was how I got the job I am at and I am a new grad (graduated in December, NCLEX in January, new job in February). I dropped off a resume, was asked to wait and speak with the DON who then invited me for an interview the following day. My fellow classmates who have been applying in person are also finding it more successful than online applications.

I'm gonna start walking in. I thought about it, but felt I may be turned away. Places that advertise online, have you heard of anyone going into the business instead?

You very well may be turned away but you may also be asked to fill out an application and be interviewed on the spot. All you can do is try and if they turn you away you just brush it off and move on to the next facility. One of my friends walked in to a facility that said stated applications were online only on their website but she was interviewed and hired right there.

Thanks for your help guys!:) I was just wondering do they accept temporary permit? I know it's going to take a while before I receive my license. And also, I'm planning to volunteer to hospice so that I can gain experience.
