Nurses LPN/LVN

Hey all you future nurses out there. Have you taken your NCLEX-PN and are now completely freaked out, if not, wanting to start vomitting every few minutes? :barf01: Well let me tell you something, keep your head up. I took my NCLEX-PN last friday, Not just saying this to make someone feel better, but I honestly left the test told my husband I think I maybe got 3 questions right on that whole test, it shut off at 86 and I failed it miserably. Only to lose tons of sleep over the weekend and to find out today that I PASSED. First thought in my head is that is stupid that I passed. :rotfl: Anyways, this is all not to brag or to make myself look good because I passed, but to send some encouragement your way. I am sorry you are dealing with all of this stress, because I know that it is unbearable, but keep your head up and know that there will be a day that you are OFICIALLY a nurse and all of your hard work has finally paid off!:)

Don't frown, you never know who's falling in love with that smile of yours!

Honestly, God. I had always been a terrible test taker. I would even freak out on tiny quizes, study for hours and then get to the test time and forget everything. This time I was really close to Christ and gave the whole thing over to him and asked him to help me to be calm and have a focus on my study material and he did. I had never been calmer in a test ever. And this was the biggest one Ive ever taken. So first I had to give glory to Christ. But anywho off my soap box, I really studied my pharmacology notes hard from school, drug endings, classes, and side effects. That was my big topic. Next, what I should have hit harder, was diseases, and what exactly they were. Really I made my appointment for my Nclex and then to be honest I waited two weeks before to start studying. Because if you are anything like me you have trouble remembering things over a couple of weeks. So I on purpose waited as some people call last minute and spent 2-2 and a half hours a day in books. Also, I used http://www.mo-media.com/nclex/ review guide and it worked great for me its a topical review where it is split up by topics. I am not advertising for them, its just what worked for me. I had bought the NCLEX-PN Comprehensive Success System by Teaching Solutions and found it to be a bit of a waist other than some practice questions it gave me. Really it is just about really going over the pharm stuff, the diseases, and patient priorities, like who would you go to first, a patient on fire, a patient who sneezed, you know like that only a little tougher. OH MOST IMPORTANT:My husband gave me this tip, he is a minister with extreme ADD so this is how he keeps on track with his studying....Take an hour devote it to studying or even a half an hour, and then do something you enjoy for a bit such as watching tv, or lookin at the internet. Its something that I did and it changed my perspective, because then I wasn't getting burnt out. Also, don't get on here the night before the test, HAHAHA, I did it and started to freak myself out. Maybe thats just me but oh well.

But all in all it is an important test yes, but don't be anxious. Worrying wont help anything, it will just take away some of your smiles. Hope that helped, sorry, I'm a talker.:smackingf

faithsmommy - Thanks for your response. The Lord and I have a pretty good relationship and I know he's my biggest supporter, so I know he'll give the strength that I need to make it through. I also know that I do need to review some more OB and Peds as I feel that's my weakest area. We didn't get a real intense lesson on it like we did other areas. The review class has been a really big help in going over alot of the Peds and OB and I've been getting the practice questions right, so I guess I know a little more than I think.

That is awesome!! Yeah you really will learn that you know more than what you thought you did. Especially when you go to take that NCLEX, you will be suprised by what you can actually answer with out any doubt. (Even though I think I only had like 5 of those!hehe) Also, thats great that you are doing practice questions I think the more comfortable you get with the test format the better off you'll be!! Happy studying!
