I agree. That little piece of paper with your name on it and the date of graduation make all the difference in the world. And yes, the more one goes forward with education to learn more and get more in depth, the more they should be compensated. I am a new LVN in a LTC and I started out at $15 an hour. The local hospital that does hire lvn's start new gradsout at $11. the agency nurses where i work report $25 - $30 an hour for LVN.

Do be mad about $10.50 because in Mississippi starting pay is $9.02 for LPN's

This is my first post. I will be starting LPN school in a couple of weeks. I can't believe the pay rate is that low. I am a medical transcriptionist now and my pay rate is $10.64 here on the border of rural NE PA/NY. Its crazy to me that they can pay you so little for a job that requires more education and more skills. Transcription is important but your caring for patients for God sake...that's really improtant. I'm going to school to be a nurse because I want to be a nurse...but I sure hope I won't be making less than I am now that's awful.

I've been an LPN in Connecticut for 7 years now. Started working for $15.00 an hour 3-11 shift.

After 7 years of 3-11 I went up to $19.25 plus differential and now am promoted to MDS Coordinator. I make $25.00 with no weekends, evenings, or holidays.

jacksonville here. i have been trying to get into fccj nursing all year. i only have a 3.2 gpa and there are so many applicants. i have applied for the spring term nursing and threw my hat in the ring for the lpn program. i feel like i need to get in the door that way. maybe get some more points once i'm a lpn and then bridge to rn, good luck to you it is very competitive here.

Well the pay here will really scare you I started as an L.P.N. in 1990 at our hometown hospital at 10.00 an hr. Went back to the same hopital in 2003 at 12.00 an hr. I am now starting a new job at a nursing home, two miles from my home at 17.00 an hr plus shift diff. Everything caps out after 10 years of experience here. Hope this helps anyone that ever decides to come this way.

Have worked at same LTC facility for 23 years make $26.00 per hour. This isn't to bad except the only thing that pisses me off is when our new contract came up 4 years ago(UNION) they brought everyone up to the same pay nother words new grads or even new employees went from $18/hr to $25 us old employees $23/hr to $25 so they got increase of $280.00 a week raise!! we got $80.00 a week!!!Now best part 3 months retro new nurses over $3000.00 us(nurses 10-20 yrs)about $900.00!! Experience, senority.loyality didn't count for anything!!Real let down. So all new grads come where I work and get paid as much as me IV and dialysis certified only means more work. Any way some of the agencies pay up to $32/hr here. Other long term pay about 23/hr. Cna up to $14/hr. I got lucky got hired during a nursing shortage 23 yrs ago for 24 hrs with full time benefits such as medical dental etc for whole family! Me and my sister only 2 left with this clause!

I live in CT and the going rate here is around 25.00 to 35 or more, depending on WhAT type nursing job you take, and trust me, one can CHOOSE which they want.

This is in nursing homes LTC, and rehab units.

my daughter is LPN and does work for the local visiting nurses PSHYC, and all she really does is drive to pts homes and pass meds and assess the pt as far as mentations. she tells me she takes in like 30-50 dollars an hr, depending on the day, : holidays, weekends ect, and with 3 kids and a lazy husband SHE supports ALl 5 of them easily, so an LPN CAN do VERY WELL.

My wife is an LPN as well and works rehab, at a local health care facility, and draws 30.08 an hr.

I do pool nursing and pull between 30-50 PLUS an hr, again depending on what day, I choose to work.

Granted I have been an LPN for many years buy here in CT it seems we have a decent rate of pay, I see the 11 dollars an hr and wonder WHY you doing this for that low sum? One can at least double that here in CT, and WE NEED nurses. IMO.
Fist this is first what school did you daughter attended for her LPN course and how long has she been a LPN... Second it is her faulty for her husband being a lazy bum the reason I say this and excuse me if I may say "She the one who puts up with his lazy self" Because if that was me his tail would be hitting the curve right about nowwwwwww regardless if he is the father to one of my kids even less all them. Then I would be taking his lazy butt to court for child support and clean him oult so fast out of money he wouldn't know what the hit him.. So if there is anyone to blam for the bum you have to start with your baby girl....Second do you word for pool 5 days a week and what pool agencey is this...so when i finish my lpn i can tell them that you recommended me and I do know that they do give bouses for recommendations what do yoiu think????
