How much does Adult Day Care pay LVNs?

I have an interview tomorrow for an Adult Day Care which is 3 minutes away from where I live and they said they need a Spanish bilinigual nurse so thats why they contacted me. I am currently working in home health but only 2 days a week so Im looking for a more stable job. My question is... how much do they typically start lvns in adult day cares? Anyone in CA work in an adult day care that might know? Thankyou. ;)

I don't recall seeing this info lately in job listings, but I would expect the same rate of pay as you are getting in home health. Since they contacted you because you are bilingual, I would also try to negotiate for a dollar or two more an hour for that skill. Good luck with your interview.

In Texas I was offered $14/hr.....which is really low for this area.

Adult day care centers and group homes are known for their lower pay rates. If you are seeking big bucks, you probably will never achieve financial satisfaction with your paychecks from an adult day care company.

I'm impressed that there even are jobs for LPNs in adult day care. My favorite job as a nurse was in group homes for the developmentally disabled, and we did have some residents who went out for a few hours a day to separate day programs. But from what I've seen, they only hire caregivers, CNA's, and activities specialists. Patients who are medically fragile or who have trachs can't go because there is no one qualified to care for them in this setting.

I would love to work in a day program even for lower pay, just because I like the population and it would have very good hours for a nursing job. I haven't seen opportunities for LPNs in that environment in my area.

I first got involved with a company that owned several group homes for the developmentally disabled when I was working as a temp. I ended up working in several group homes over a several year period, first as an aide and later as a nurse.

This company does advertise job openings in the paper and online, which I'm sure would be necessary for any group home since they aren't the kinds of places that recieve walk-in applicants. Group homes are literally just regular houses in neighborhoods, so from the outside you can't tell it is a type of facility. Inside, the houses have been adapted and remodeled as necessary to be handicapped accessable, as well having enough space and bedrooms to comfortably hold about 6 residents.

There is one nurse and one aide per shift, so you really can't beat the staff/resident ratio in this environment. The nurse must help the aide with basic care, including bathing, dressing, and feeding residents, as well as housekeeping. Doing total care for a small group of residents is very different from the nursing home "assembly line" kind of environment, where your interaction with patients often seems limited to "Here's your pills, I'll send the aide in for whatever else. Next..." Group homes are known for not paying well, and it seems common for new grads to start there to get basic experience, then move on. Still, some have very stable staff who become very attached to their jobs and their residents.

Would you have any idea how much they would normally get paid? I was offered 15/hr as an RN....... Doesn't seem right in the state of CA since my CNA job basically was 15/hr..But I could be wrong.

Anything in the MMR/ID/DD arena is "low" because funding is low. And these places are typically non-profits. People in these types of positions generally love their jobs, and are not in it for the money...similar to teachers.

I know this is late but hopefully will help someone else. In nj in my adult day care facility the one LPN we have started at 18/hr and the RNs start at 23-25/hr
