How does an LPN get the 1yr experience if no one will hire them?

I am a newly licensed LPN, and i've been applying to different facilities and agencies but I haven't received not one call back. the agencies that I do talk to all say that I need 1yr experience. but I dont know how to get that experience if no one is willing to give me the chance. Im in miami fl. can anyone give advice on this?

Move? ...to another city...maybe even another state?

After completing an LPN/LVN program several years ago, I relocated out of state to find my first nursing job.

I realize that not all people can pick up and move to an area with more abundant job opportunities, but relocating to a city or state with plentiful LPN jobs is a valid way to accrue the magical one year of experience.

I graduated in May and just got official license Sept 4th, I been applying everywhere since then, didn't hear anything for two weeks from anyone. And now my phone is blowing up with phone calls. Be patient, try to do something meanwhile like cleaning or something you been putting off for a while. Best Luck to you!

Sometimes all you can do is just...keep...applying. Everywhere. Even the places you might not want to. Have you applied to every local nursing home? I just got hired at one that employs 7 other former classmates and not a one of us had 1 year's experience.

Are you submitting a cover letter with your résumé? I would...and craft it to be personalized to each facility and make sure they know what they'd gain by hiring you.

Also try ihirenursing.com ...it's a paid job matching service but for a buck you can get a week's trial. In the week I was a member I was matched to 36 job opportunities that were never listed in my local paper. You can also suit your résumé and get a professional critique in a video! Very cool. I had no trouble canceling my 1 week trial.
