Is becoming a LPN a good career

Nurses LPN/LVN

Published

Hello all! I have been an MA for about 8 yrs, I'm debating whether or not to apply to lpn school. I do not want to work in a hospital. I guess i am hoping for some imput from others. I also contiue to here LPN's are going away, I hope this is not true. Thanks so much

That's hard to answer. It really depends on your area and why you want to become a LPN. Where I live in Iowa, LPNs only are really found in nursing homes as they have been mostly passed out in the hospital and replaced by MAs in the clinic. If you want to become a LPN go for it but make sure you know what your options are in your area and that you are OK with those.

Thanks so much for your imput. I do get a little discouraged but i think i will make the best decision

Interesting that you hear LPN's are going away. In Ontario (where I live), I hear the hospitals are actually hiring MORE LPN's and less RN's.

Go to a for-profit school, sign that contract, and you sold you sold.cause you could flunk one class or the wrong test,be dropped out of school, and still have to pay as if u were Attending.you will be worst off then u stared.for no **** reason.not a nurse ,not studying for nursing you'll be just paying your large debt. ****can go real sour in that nursing boy.

Is this the best writing you can do? You don't present yourself well to people you don't know, certainly not professional. Please read the terms of service here, no cursing, no text speak... Maybe some remedial English courses and some classes on how to present yourself well for an interview, that's my advice to climb the vocational ladder.

Agreed. I've heard of hospital system laying off RN's to hire more LPN's. Cheaper labor apparently. Less managers.

Oh my gosh! Just laughter people!
