LPN hospital positions

U.S.A. Louisiana

Would someone please tell me the duties of an LPN in a hospital setting (L&D or LDRP)? Also, what is the average starting salary for an LPN working 3 12 hour hospital shifts in the New Orleans area (more specific the northshore-STPH and Lakeview). Are LPNs offered shift diffs for working night and weekends, and if so are they comparable to the shift diffs offered to RNs? Thank you in advance to all that reply :)

Specializes in PACU, LTC, Med-Surg, Telemetry, Psych.

Hospital LPNs do everything that a RN does for less pay except give IV pushes and a few other things.

I asked about pay. It can be as low as USD 13 and as high as USD 23. You will have much better pay at a LTAC like Promise than you are at a hospital.

Promise----it's a specialty hospital. They have several LTAC's around this area.

NorthOaks in hammond the night diff for lpn is $2, rn $4 and weekend diff lpn $2.50 and rn $5. STPH starts their lpns off very low. With 2 years experience the pay was going to be like $12.50! Which is crazy! The pay at stph is horrible for lpns however the benefits are good and heard its a good hospital to work at.
