Hello everyone,

I will be attending Charity School of Nursing in the Fall of 2004 for my first of 4 semesters. Anyone else going to Charity?

Hi! As far as good study materials for PAX, they do offer a book you can buy but in all honesty, it didnt help. You can go to a bookstore and look at some of those "Nursing Entrace Exams" books to get a feel for whats on the test, but no matter how you study, its never what you expect. For math, KNOW FRACTIONS!! That was all my math portion was! And know physics well too, thats on the science part alot.

As for you doing your prereqs in BR, let me just tell you that first preference does go to those students doing prereqs at Delgado. It is very competitive to get in, and that is one of the things that helps most. The most important things they look at are your GPA of prereqs, total GPA, # of prereqs completed, and PAX scores. I have a 3.8 GPA and made a 128 on Pax and made it in just fine, but I did almost all of my prereqs here at Delgado (Campus in Covington) and some at Southeastern.

:)

Well I right now taking English 102, Psyc-LifeSpan, A&P II, Sociology. The only classes they require that I haven't taken yet are a fine arts and humanities elective. I do plan on transferring to Delgado either this summer or fall of this year. I wonder if this will help or do they go off the # of pre-req courses taken at Delgado. I have already taken A&P I, General Psyc, Psyc of Adjustment, English 101, Microbiology, Algebra. So it not be a lot of courses that I will be required to take. Do they allocate a certain # of students who can be accepted from other universities? Thank you for the advice. :thankya:

I second this statement. Everyone's experience is different and what someone perceives as hard, you may perceive as not so hard (and vice versa).

48- Im sorry I dont know more.. I was just told that they look more highly on those students who have taken prereqs at Delgado..

For those in Charity now, I have a question. I read on another post that nurses cant have acrylic nails. Did they make you get rid of yours when starting classes? I havent heard anything about this, but I really hope not!!

Please let me know if this was mentioned during your orientation/first week of class.

THANKS!

If anyone wants to buy my Pax Review book, let me know.

Have you heard anything about acrylic nails, hopeful?

Alissa,

Sorry, but the nails will have to go:( We can't have fake nails and nails must be kept even with the finger tips. Congrats on getting in Basic is not as bad as everyone claims...at least I didn't think so.

That sucks, especially since I want to work at Lakeview in Covington, and they said their nurses are allowed to have acrylic nails that arent kept too long. Blah.

I also have a friend who just started Basic this semester, and shes so overwhelmed! Shes taking Pharm, too. She said shes going to have to quit her job, and she only works 5 hrs a week! I pray I will be able to work and go to school at once, or else I guess I will be homeless!! Those rent checks dont grow on trees!

Hi Ya'll :)

I have a question about the PAX exam. I've taken the test once and I will be taking it for a second time in July. I didn't do so well on the science part becasue i knew nothing about chemistry and physics. Does anyone have suggestion on a certain book i can study for those two subjects. I studied the review book and it's not like the test at all! I did buy a seperate book that should cover the math part. I want to get into Charity but i'm so afraid if i don't do well the second time i will never get in. :o

I have been excepted into Delgado School of Nursing for the LPN-Rn program starting this Summer. Looking to rent a room w/shower in a quiet environment. I am very laid back, no criminal record, and does not smoke.

Specializes in Home Health.

Best wishes to all Charity students. Greatest nursing education you can get anywhere. Am a 1986 alumni.
