Making a choice of Schools
I don't know what your GPA is, but if you are a transfer student coming into UT Arlington I hope it is high. They give priority to individuals that have at least 30 hours at UTA. Some of the individuals who transferred into UTA this semester and applied were upset when they didn't get in or put on the waiting list. One guy was even complaining that he had a 3.6 GPA (he was put on the waiting list), however he just transferred in from TCCC. I knew a girl who started out at TCCC and got in with a 3.8 GPA. I think the issue is a lot of the transfer students coming in this semester underestimated just how many students actually start out in the nursing program here. I know a lot of people with his same GPA who got into the program, the main difference being they started at UTA or had at least 30 hours at UTA. However, it just really depends on how many people are applying for that particular semester and how well you stack up against the competition. This last cycle 475 people applied and UTA only takes 100 students per semester. You may get in, you may not, or may get put on the waiting list. I would apply to UTA, they have a really good program ( I am not just saying that because I am a UTA student). The December 2005 graduating class had a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX. Good Luck

Charity School of Nursing
Well I right now taking English 102, Psyc-LifeSpan, A&P II, Sociology. The only classes they require that I haven't taken yet are a fine arts and humanities elective. I do plan on transferring to Delgado either this summer or fall of this year. I wonder if this will help or do they go off the # of pre-req courses taken at Delgado. I have already taken A&P I, General Psyc, Psyc of Adjustment, English 101, Microbiology, Algebra. So it not be a lot of courses that I will be required to take. Do they allocate a certain # of students who can be accepted from other universities? Thank you for the advice. :thankya:

I really want to go to Charity School of Nursing, right now I am taking pre-req's in Baton Rouge. My overall average is a 3.4, I plan on taking the PAX very soon. Is there any good study materials for it. Is it hard to get into Charity, I am hoping to get in either for Spring or Fall 2006. Please help and thank you in advance for advice.

"Just an LPN"....does anyone else get discouraged?
At my university the pre-med majors think they are superior to not only nurses, but other students going into health care fields that are not pre-med. It seems like the superior attitudes start before one even makes it into a field. Just my opinion.

Looking to relocate,to a kid friendly, LPN friendly city that pays good. Any suggest?
Can you please tell me more about Dallas. How are the nursing schools there and how is the economy there. My hubby graduates from college this year. We arre considering Dallas as an option. We also have kids so we need a place that is family friendly.
