Has anyone attended Morehead University in Kentucky? I'm actually from Washington State, but we are relocating to KY so I've been researching schools. I just started the application process and I'm sure I'll get in, but I would like some more information on the school. Was the program quality? Hands-on and active? Not just book work. How are the professors and cohort? I feel like I'm moving to another country, feeling like a foreigner! Also, I'm 29 and was curious if it's mainly younger (early 20's). I'm afraid of standing out like a sore thumb. LOL. Thanks for your input!

My daughter went there for a semester. You either love it there or hate it. She didn't care for it, but I am sure it is good if you get involved, she just hated dorm life. I worked with a nursing student from there, the program did not seem near as intense as the school where I attend, and the NCLEX pass rate is only like 87% from what I remember, but I could be wrong since I don't actually go to school there. Graduated 1 year ago from there ADN. It is an excellent program that had 100% pass rate for 3 years straight from thier ADN program. THey have an ADN and BSN program which is your preference. You do have clinicals every semester, hands on experience depends on what hospital you get sent for your clinical group. 1 site is local, but they dont let students do much until your practicum, the other 2 sites are 30 minutes away but are much more hands on. Great teachers except for a few bad apples. There were quite a few "non-traditional students" in the ADN not so much in the BSN program. I did the ADN and we had 11 people at the start of the program who where over the age of 29 (one of us was almost 50!) Although it is a great program they don't have as much competition for acceptance compared to schools in larger cities. I had a 3 year wait at 3 schools in the Cincinnati area just to start, they accepted me and let me start immediately. It is a small rural town with anything "fun" to do really is about 1 hour away in any direction. KY is definately a different beast than where you are from but we are very accepting. Especially in nursing school since everyone bonds together just trying to survive it. It is a HUGE change for you and graduating is not garunteed. I encourage you to be sure you have a base to fall back on if things dont work out. GOOD LUCK!

I didn't go there for my nursing degree... having said that, I LOVED it there!!! It was a bit of a culture shock at

first, being from a big city... it's a small, small town. But, I absolutely loved it.
