I am still waiting on my acceptance letter, and am going crazy:bugeyes:! Hopefully, I will be starting July 27th.:yeah:

Mike Linnings would be great for me. My husband has the account there. He is a food sales rep. Does everyone live in the South end? I am next to Southern Pkwy.

No matter where we go, I would enjoy meeting you all any Sat. afternoon, I just need a weeks notice.

Hey Gals,

Does anyone have any advice on the best way to pursue student loans? Should I wait until I talk to fin. aid?

Or should I start looking into banks on my own?

What is the best type of student loan? Any advice would be welcomed!! Thanks.

Hey acorne I have my financial aid appt today at 2 so I will post what I find out. I did a little research on the stafford loan which seems to be the best way to go. The interest rate is around 6% and they let you extend it for 10 years if you want. From what I have read if you borrow 15k you are looking at a payment of around 180 a month for 10 years. PLEASE don't hold me to this I haven't verified it yet and I could be misunderstanding how it works. I will be more clear on it after my appt.

Ok acorne the financial aid appt was a breeze! The stafford loan is the way to go it does work like I explained and you don't make any payments until after you graduate. They have a list of about 6 different lenders to choose from.

Hi everyone! I haven't been able to post messages for a couple of days. I am glad to see that everyone is excited and doing well! Congratulations on getting your acceptance letter lasdrs07! That's awesome! Also, Michelle, I am glad that your financial aid appointment went well!

I am very excited about starting classes in July! Oh by the way, FYI, I posted a thread to the lady who was on one of the Galen posts who is one of the clinical teachers for Galen at one of the clinical sites; BBFRN. I asked her about how we will be learning to give shots. I was worried, because I knew someone who went to Ivy Tech in the past and they had to practice on eachother. To be honest, I thought that she was making it up! I could not believe that that could be possible. Believe it or not, the clinical teacher went to Ivy Tech in the past and she said that it's true. They had to practice on eachother! That sounds absolutely awful!

Not to worry though, she told me that we are very lucky with Galen because of

it's up to date technology. She said that we will be learning in the simulation lab. Apparently, some of the dummies have built in veins and stuff so that we can practice. So that's pretty cool!

I just found this website and was glad to see the Galen thread. I was worried that I would be out of place at Galen as a 35 yr old male, but I see other people my age on here. That is a big relief. I will also be starting in July during the day. Good luck to all.

Alright guys, although I am excited about meeting you all, the timing is all off:( Because we start school on JULY 27TH!!!:yeah: We planned so many events between now and then, to make up for me not being able to do so much with them once school starts. Why don't you all take plenty of pictures and tag them and send them to those who are not able to make it and we can do the same. At least we(I) can feel like I was there. If not, I will see you all on the 11th:)

I am off again for a family fun filled weekend in Cincinnati!! Can't wait to get back and read the posts on Sunday:D!
