Hello, I am curious.if it would be possible for me to work in Canada without any work experience.

I've checked out multiple websites, but I'm still a bit confused.

Depends on the employer, they will expect you to have gone throught the license process with the college of RN and either have a license or eligibility to sit exam.

You will have better luck with experience than without. Many Canadian new grads struggling so harder for IENs

Are you Canadian?

If not, how long ago did you graduate ? If not, do you have a nursing license from the country in which you were educated? (If not you are not eligible for a nursing license in Canada and therefore ineligible to work in Canada as a nurse unless you wish to enroll in a Canadian nursing school as an international student. )

If you are an IEN and have a nursing license from your country of education, have you been assessed by the provincial college of nurses and deemed eligible for a Canadian nursing license?

What would encourage a Canadian employer to go through the time & expense of sponsoring you, an inexperienced overseas educated nurse, for a Canadian work visa? (Job offer and sponsorship required as nursing off the needed skills list).

Just curious is a new grad with no nursing experience qualified as a skilled worker?

Firstly, thank you for replying so quickly to my thread.

Secondly, I'm sorry I wasn't very clear in my first post. I am an IEN. I plan on applying for the NNAS sometime this year. I am aiming to work in Manitoba. I was just wondering if work experience is one the requirements in the application.

I read the faq in the NNAS website but there was nothing about work experience.

Usually minimum of 12 months is required for the skilled list

Suggest reading the provincial college of RNs website

That's what I thought. I would think never-worked-as a nurse new grad would not equate to skilled nursing professional. Thanks.

I've read the website as well and I still didn't get a straight forward answer. But, have you heard that work experience isn't required?

Read the provincial college of nurses website and it will tell you what you need.

I doubt experience will be required to register with the college as many new grads apply for registration
