Hi Everyone, nice to meet you here and thanks for all the sharings.

I am a RN in Hong Kong and applying for the nurse registration in BC...I know that it will take me 4~5 months for assessing my eligibility of taking CRNE...and once I am admitted to fit for exam, I can apply for a temporary registration for employment and practice in BC...

By the time I get my temporary registration, will the CRNBC arrange the practicum for us or I have to look for a job vancancy myself? I believe it will be quite a complicated situation as I may only be able to work under supervision until I pass my CRNE and get my license. If really so, is it difficult to get an opportunity for practicum?

I would also like to know if there is any study aids you have been used for preparing the CRNE? Because I can only find the "Canadian RN Exam Prep Guide" at Canadian Nurses Association website...and it seems have nowhere else can I get access to the CRNE past exam papers...I would love to hear about how you have challenged the exam too~ it maybe too early for me to talk about exam...but I'm very nervous about it already :o

wish me good luck~ >.

CRNBC will not assist you in looking for employer. You have to do it by yourself. If you have years of experience in specialty unit you have high chance of getting hired.

When I took the exam I just focused on the CRNE prep guide but being an immigrant it is not easy to answer the cultural issues. Canadian exam is more focused on psychosocial issues. It is a paper test, not computerized thus it takes 2-3 months to get the result especially when they started incorporating short answers and enumerations. Goodluck.

thank you very much for the information~

I have just realized that there are some re-entry nursing programs in Vancouver for internationally educated nurses, just like the one in Kwantlen University College~ seems like it's one of the possible ways to pass the CRNE...though it's a one-year full time program (oh god~ it must be expensive!)...

whatever....I just want to work asap in Canada...~

Yes there are programs for IEN and some can be taken by distance education. It should be expensive since you will be considered international student.

thanks, Gnetsky~

at the meantime I am working as hard as I can to save up more for the programs~good luck to me >.

You will not find old test questions available for that exam, it is illegal for them to be circulated in the first place due to copyright laws. Same thing with the NCLEX exam questions in the US.

hi! my opinion is challenge the exam before trying to take the re-entry nursing prgram.

better yet instead of going to a re-entry program why not attend to a review course that is focus on CRNE? I have friends in BC they are IEN too and they took the exam without taking the expensive re-entry courses. Now they passed the exam and working as a nurse.

I am an IEN too here in Ontario just took the exam last Oct. and with God's grace I passed the exam. I was in the same dillema before. i was thinking of going to re-entry courses but instead i enrolled to a review (prep) course for CRNE.

My 2 cents!

Well again, that will depend on the credentialling body what will be the result of your evaluation.

IEN (internationally Educated Nurse) here in Canada ;) . Sure I'll help you. Just let me know what you need to know.

Where in Canada you want to go? I know an Online review. I don't know how it will work with the exam since you are in the Philippines.

First you need to have your credentials evaluated by the province you want to take the exam.

Let me know if you made up your mind. Goodluck!

Hello. I have an immigrant visa but I haven't actually landed yet. I have until mid 2008 before it expires. I, too, recently passed the local board exam and IELTS. I am considering having my credentials evaluated by CRNBC as early as now, so I won't have to wait too long in Canada before I get the eligibility and sit the exam. How long did it take for your eligibility to come out?

Also, nursing is my second course but I have only recently graduated and do not have working experience as a nurse yet. Do you think I will find a hard time looking for an employer?
