canadian experience for CRNE
Pretty much you need to read the prep guide master the flow of questioning and answers. CRNE is different from NCLEX it is more of psychosocial rather than clinical. Lots of cultural base questions and community. I don't think you need to spend extra money to fly over for a review because the review centers are pretty much the same as elsewhere. I did not attend any review before I took CRNE because of money constraint. Read general review books and I focus on CRNE prep guide a week before the exam. It did help a lot. For a new immigrant like me a lot of cultural questions are quite tricky.

canadian experience for CRNE
You need about 1000 hrs. or so of experience within the last five years before they will allow you to take the exam aside from passing the English test. If you don't and you graduated five years ago they will require you to take refresher program first. BC is requiring 250 hrs of Canadian (supervised training) before they release your License no.. Otherwise your status will remain as interim or non practicing license after passing the CRNE. Lots of Employer now are accepting nurses under interim permit if you have the experince they are looking for. They also can provide the 250 hrs. supervise training so you can abide with CRNBC's requirement after passing the exam.

Yes there are programs for IEN and some can be taken by distance education. It should be expensive since you will be considered international student.

requirements to work as a nurse in canada (Vancouver/Burnaby esp)
Even you are Canadian Citizen if your first language is not english or graduated from a country that is not english speaking you have to take the english test. There is a a way to waive it but it takes a long process. You need to be an RN where you had your program in order to qualify for CRNE in BC.

CRNBC will not assist you in looking for employer. You have to do it by yourself. If you have years of experience in specialty unit you have high chance of getting hired. When I took the exam I just focused on the CRNE prep guide but being an immigrant it is not easy to answer the cultural issues. Canadian exam is more focused on psychosocial issues. It is a paper test, not computerized thus it takes 2-3 months to get the result especially when they started incorporating short answers and enumerations. Goodluck.

requirements to work as a nurse in canada (Vancouver/Burnaby esp)
In Vancouver,(BC) in order to qualify you need to be an RN in the originating country. Also, since you took your BSN in the Philippines you need to take english test. There is no such thing as challenging the test in BC. You have to pass all the requirement and assesment by the nursing board before they allow you to take the exam. Usually there is no problem with the program from Phils. (I am not sure though with the short cut programs). Canadian exam is very much different from NCLEX. Took them both so I know. Phils. local board is more like NCLEX. Canadian exam is more focus on psychosocial.

Getting Visa Screen For Us
Just got my visa screen certificate last week. It took 6 months for the process. All my requirements were complete since mid July but they never got to receive my Validation in BC. I have to send 3 times until finally I told them to send it by courier which cost extra money but its worth it considering the time wasted. All my requirements were in by Nov. 2. It cost US$395 for the fee then you have to pay for the validation of your license. If you require IELTS another Cdn$240.00. I think I spent approx. Cdn$800.00. If you don't want to waste time you must send all your documents by register mail or courier as ICHP is very poor in updating your status in the website. I requested my NCLEX result from Ca and ICHP notified me by e-mail that they received on July 27/06 but they did not update my status even after how many e-mails. Finally, I called them and the agent told me that they did not receive it but after barking with her she finally found it and promised me to update my status. 2 weeks after still no update in the website so I call again and the agent told me again that they don't have it. In short, this people are losing documents the only thing you can check wether they received it is if you registered your mail. Goodluck.

How can I get certification from Ca BRN that I passed NCLEX for my VISA SCREEN?
I was instructed by Ca board to do this because I am not quite sure what to do too so I called them first before sending the letter. Anyway, they forwarded the result. I know they require $60 to complete the verification but I was told that they don't need to do that since I don't have a license no. yet so it was not a license verification. Guess I got lucky!!!

Just send a letter requesting the board to send a copy of the test result with $10.00 fee. No need for verification form since you don't have the license number yet. That's what I did.

Too young to be an RN ?!
I was 27 when I started my nursing career in Canada but I look young for my age, some of my patient are really skeptical, they thought I just finished High School. Anyway, once they see that you are confident of what your doing they will feel safe and everything will be ok.
