Hi. I am a US-RN and is thinking of trying to migrate to Canada. Can somebody give me advice if its true when they say that if you pass you're an NCLEX passer, you can just apply for a reciprocity in Vancouver? Is this true? Please help me.

What is next after passing US-NCLEX, how to sent the information to CNO regarding the NCLEX or still need to get an eligibility requirement for licensure.

Apply on new central website, proof of license in country of education, proof of English language proficiency, proof education meets provinicial requirements. There is no endorsement of a US license or NCLEX pass to Canada. You must demonstrate that you meet the licensing requirements of the provincial college of nurses.

If you haven't already applied to a province or Ontario is your destination then NNAS is first port of call. Either to NNAS or provincial college you usually can arrange with the state you passed NCLEX for a small fee to forward results to the place you need to send it and if applying to NNAS then that is where I expect it to go. you still need to meet requirements for the province, all a pass in NCLEX in the US means is you do not have to resit it for Canada

I have a Canadian friend who got her bachelor degree from Ontario but failed all 3 times. she then moved to the state of Michigan and passed her nclex-RN exam. I wonder if they would let her work in Ontario

Yes, I am sure she would be able to work in ON. She has passed the Nclex so there is no need to resit for another exam. Let her know about this good news and good luck!

Feeling happy for the updates. I am also an NCLEX passer (2009). Just finished my master degree (MAN) this month. And by next month (Nov'14) i will take up Phd major in School Leadership & Management. I hope my qualification is good enough to work in Canada. Please let me know where to apply. Thank you.

If you did not apply before October 15 you likely have to resit the NCLEX. This is the policy of CNO and other provinces follow suit. You need to apply to NNAS for credentials assessment. The assessment process can take up to 24 months.

Those who applied before mid October have the opportunity for the college of nurses to accept passing NCLEX scores dating back to 1982. Those that apply after have to retake the exam per the FAQ on the CNO website.

It's not where do you apply it's which province to you wish to live and work.? Then apply to NNAS, after a positive assessment apply to the provincial College of Nursing

It's still 3 tries of any combo of exams whether CRNE or NCLEX and return to school. Ontario is very specific about this in their FAQ regarding NCLEX

Correction if you did not apply to CNO by September 18, 2014 you will need to retake the NCLEX.

It's still only 3 tries

What happens if I don't pass the NCLEX-RN?

All applicants will have three chances to successfully complete the NCLEX-RN. If you are not successful after three tries, then you will be asked to complete further education before you can try again.

FAQ: NCLEX RN-CNO

I have already written the NCLEX-RN and passed. Do I need to write it again?

On September 18, 2014, the Council of the College of Nurses of Ontario passed a motion to accept successful NCLEX-RN exam writes from the beginning of 1982 to the end of 2014.

If you are a current RN applicant who applied to the College before that date, and you can show the College you successfully wrote the NCLEX-RN within that timeframe, then you have met the examination requirement.

From what I gather, those who passed the NCLEX RN exam between 1982 - end of 2014 need not retake the exam.

Only if you are a current applicant as of Sept 18, 2014. If you applied to CNO on or after Sept 19, 2014 this does not apply.

Forgive me but my understanding is that if you as an applicant, before the Sept 18 proclamation ,applied for eligibility for registration and you were about to sit for the CRNE but already passed the NCLEX RN, then you dont have to take or retake any of those 2 exams again.

"1982 to the end of 2014" - CNO should just have stated from "1982 up to the date of this proclamation only".

I hope you guys can clear this up. thanks

Correct. If you applied to the CNO on or before September 18 and passed the NCLEX-RN any time between 1982 and December 2014 you would not have needed to take the October 2014 CRNE you met the examination requirement. (Unless you had already failed the CRNE three times then you need to remediate your education just as before)

If you applied to the CNO on or after September 19, 2014 and previously passed the NCLEX-RN it doesn't matter you need to retake the NCLEX-RN for CNO.

There are still three chances for any combination of the exams. So if you had an active application with CNO, failed the CRNE twice then applied to a US state and failed to pass the NCLEX-RN one (or more) times you would still need to remediate your education as you exceeded the three attempt limit enforced throughout Canada.
