Hi. I am on the process of getting endorsed to Texas since my license endorsement in Maryland is taking ages. My agent told me its the easiest way out of getting a license issued in any other states in the US. I am off to US in September, so I badly need to work this out.

My question is, has anyone of you tried doing the so called Texas Nursing Jurisdiction Exam?? I duno how this one goes so if in case you got any idea or information, please be kind enough to help. I have just started to make researches I guess. But still, nothing compares if i get info from people who already took such exam.

I hope someone nice or a lot of you would comment back.

Thanks in advance!!!

Which state are you going to be working in? If Maryland I can not see the point in endorsing to Texas as you will not be able to work in Maryland without a Maryland license.

First off, thanks for replying asap.

Here's what happened. I passed NCLEX-RN in the state of California last December 2007 and have all the qualifying documents at hand. Since SSN is required, i havent been issued a license yet till I submit them one (SSN). My foreign agent or employer suggested me to have my license endorsed to Maryland. I have already applied and did the paperworks needed last month, right after I got a visa approval under H1b. But since its taking ages as to the processing, I was advised again to rather apply and have my license endorsed this time to Texas and would eventually take that Texas Nursing Jurisprudence Exam.

As of now, nothing is clear where they would really want me to work in.

Seems strange that you have a H1b visa but do not know where you will be working. I would have thought the employer would have to indicate so for your H1b visa as they have to prove that a USC or legal resident can not do the job

H1B is for experience advanced nurses, according to your profile you have no experience. I suggest you read the numerous threads on H1B visas

In the embassy packet they gave me, it was written that the place where I will be working is in Chantilly, Virginia. Salary rate per hour proposal is even indicated. I asked my recruitment specialist regarding my concern as to where I will be exactly be deployed in after getting an email from them stating I need to have my license endorsed this time to Texas. I know it is pretty much confusing now but all I could get for an answer from her is that she is not sure as of now since I will be getting an interview from employers when I get there. By the way, we will be staying in MD upon arrival in the US for a so-called transition program.

The Texas jurisprudence exam is very easy. It is also open book. Do not waste your time or money buying the book, they are giving out the wrong one. The exam is actually open book. You can open up another browser window and search any terms that you need to look up. The questions all have very obvious answers, but again, just search any specific laws of the nursing practice act as you come upon them. There are only a few questions that actually refer to a specific law anyway. Good luck!

Glad I was able to save you the troubles! Yes, just open a browser window to the Texas Board of Nursing website and you can use their search function for any specific laws that you have a question about. :)

I still find it strange as your place of employment for the H1b visa was Virginia but you do not know where you will be working. H1b is employer based so I would have thought Virginia would be where you are based.
