Hi, I am new here. I graduated nursing in the Philippines last October. I did not take the Philippine licensure and am now working in Riyadh. I am planning to take the NCLEX-RN test after I finish my contract (in February 2007). I wish to know what state in the U.S. does not require a local license, and releases the license without SSN.

New York, Vermont, And New Mexico. I am not sure of Arizona.

AZ only needs an additional Affidavit Form to waive the SSN req't for foreign RNs but it also needs the the CES for initial licensure

Hi. California doesn't require a license from your country but they will ask for a letter of explanation why you did not take your local board. Arizona does require for a license in your country...

my frined who also applied for for california elligibility , she just send her diploma instead sending her licences but unfurtunatelky her application was delayed. the CA BON sent her a communication ltter to send them py of philippine license. if you have a license here in the philippines better include it to avoid delay of application. good luck to evrybody

Thank you for all your replies. But I wonder.. Does Vermont require a local license? Because I don't have a local license.

hi there spacegurl!

about arizona bon, do you mean that it doesn't give licensure exam eligibility to someone who is not licensed in his/her own country? i've heard otherwise. please confirm and share more info on this. thank you.

Vermont requires a license, or vlaid reason why you do not have one. If you have one where you are currently working then you are all set.

Remember that if you are going to endorse to antoher state, you will need to meet their requirements for endorsement and may need to do the CES, etc. Chek out what the requirements are for where you wish to work. You may find it not any faster to go the route of Vermont. Also remember that they take about one months time to issue the license.............

Hi kiko. My family is in AZ so my first choice is AZ. I called up AZ bon and asked about their reqts and that includes the license in my country which I don't have. That's the reason why I applied in CA bon.

HI suzanne, i was just wondering if failing the local board exam can be a valid reason for not having a license..do you think they will approve your application to test if that is the case?

Is still awaiting for the local board exam a valid reason for not having a license in your home country coz I'm planning to take pass my application form to BON if that is alryt.

Very informative thread :smokin: Thank you
