psych nurses from UK in USA

My apologies if this thread has been discussed before. I did go through but could not find this thread. I sincerely need advice. I qualified in UK in 1995 with a Dploma in Mental Health nursing. I am currently awaiting my registration in BC (Canada) but I want to work in the USA. What is the quickest route. Please HELP.

Did I mention I also have an MSC in Healthcare Management.

Hi and welcome

Unfortunately if you are only qualified in mental health there may be a possiblity of your training not meeting the USA requirements as they require their nurses to be trained generalist not specialist. The best way to see if you meet requirements is a CES report with CGFNS

There is also no quick way to work in the USA as you have to get approval from board of nursing to sit NCLEX, then sit and pass exam then find a employer willing to petition you for a greencard and lastly go through the immigration process get a visa screen and interview

Sticky at the top of this forum called Primer gives all info on the process required to nurse in the USA, have a good read.

First question that I always ask, did you have actual experience in Maternal Health, as well as Pediatrics? This is required for licensure in the US, before you will even be permitted to sit for the exam.

Please check out the "Primer" at the top of this forum for all of the information that you will need to know before doing anything else.
