Hi all!

So today is the first day of spring and at my hospital every in patient gets a posy of flowers. this is something I never heard of until I came to OZ. Is it just at my hospital (RMH) or is it a Melbourne/ Victoria / National thing?

Saying it is the first day of spring is one thing.....................Its teaming down here in Melbs!

I would rather be hot than cold myself. Was going to move to Darwin but everyone said if you can't handle the humidity in WA Darwin would be 100 x worse.

Now I'm freezing down here - wonder if I made a mistake now?

Freezing! Haha I think not.............should of been in Ireland during thier last winter. It was the coldest in 75 years. Frozen solid and snow for 4 months!

thank goodness I missed it!

Ahh but proper central heating...............not the rubbish you have here :) Open fires and a white Christmas.

Hat, scarf and gloves and THICK wool coats............And Thermal undies!! Passion killers!

No thanks, I do not own a coat as such, just an anorak,/parker nor do I own a pair of gloves, someone bought me scarf but I never use it.

Living in the UK in Manchester for 6 months put me off snow and all this equipment in clothing. When it is cold before an early shift and it has been 1-2 degrees a few times this winter, I put my trusty cardy on and run for the car.....get that so hot by the time I get to work that I do not feel the cold walking into work!!:)

It can really affect people. But if you work inside which you would as a nurse it's not so bad. You just gotta get yourself an aircon and be prepared for a huge electricity bill because of it. And when it's hot and humid, everyone just chucks it into second gear and cruises. Otherwise you get Mango Madness. :)

And to just prove me wrong it freaking rained last night!!!!! WTH? So weird our weather this year.

Very pleasant here today, sun shining and just an acute breeze thing happening.

Heard the mental health teams are swamped in the wet season up there, could not imagine it, even with our occasional really high temps as it always cools down at night to pleasant temps.

Got soaked last night running from work to the car..................umbrella was in the car! Useful :D

I can't complain about the rain cause all the Aussies same "its great" or "look at how much is in the dams". I understand that but I'm IRISH. Complaining about the rain is an Olympic sport in Ireland!

Yeah that sounds about right. The Build Up is usually what sets people off. 33-37 degrees with humidity at 80% or higher without any rain. Then the Wet Season does get occasional relief due to the thunderstorms.

Those temperatures are why we won't do Daylight Savings. Our workdays start early in the morning. My hubby starts between 6.30 - 7am. I work in government and we start at 8am.
