hello!

i'm a pinay studying towards an rn degree in the us. this is my second degree, having completed a bs degree back home (15++ years ago!!!). anybody in the same boat???

happy to know about this forum!!! thanks to allnurses.com!

hello nrswnabee

yap. count on it. God is faithful. Always. So if He wills it it will happen. whatever the situation. i try to remind myself this everyday.

yap, 5 weeks till graduation. but still 4 tests to take.

hope you have recuperated from your chickenpox. hang in there.

hello ghingerz1208

the prerequesites will be a breeze. and it will be fun. you'll find that going back to school is a pleasant experience(and boy prepare yourself to see the difference between schooling in the philippines and over here). it was for me ... just keep an open mind.

supportive husband will really come in handy in nursing school. i have one myself and i thank God for him everyday. nursing school (post prerequisite) is really something. it's difficult but very interesting. now, if you had a bs back home which is not medically related (like moi) i'd say, you'll have a greater respect for nurses and the work they do. and i shall be honored to be one of them.

take care.

Thank you glysdi! That was encouraging. I love it when people say positive things about being a nurse. Yeah, I am definitely excited now:) I am actually reviewing some Math online just to freshen up...it's been a while since I last attended school:(

Have a nice day!

there are some schools like Samuel Merrit in Oakland, CA that offers MSN for those who have a degree in another field maybe that would make it easier for you to be a nurse.

Hi Nrswnabee,

I have been following your posts. Congratulations on being accepted to the nursing program.

I am also interested to pursue a nursing degree in the US which would be my second degree as I have completed a BS degree in the Phils 14++ years ago!

Thanks for all the info you shared. I sent you a private message with some queries. Would appreciate any help.

Good luck to everyone!

hi same here. i'm a 2nd courser & hopefully to graduate this march of 2007. planning to take the local board by june 2007 & with God's help, if I passed the local board, take the NCLEX. BTW, how long will it took me if I'm going to take the state board of CA? Anyone of you have an idea, kasi, I've read a post here that it will take me 1 yr, coz of the #s of examinees taking the CA NCLEX? How true is this? Pls. can anyone of you reply....tnx.

Goodluck to everybody & God bless all the Filipino Nurses!!! I salut you all
