passed nclex - CA but does not have SSN

Hi everyone. I recently passed the nclex and I'm from the Philippines. My fiancee is in the CA right now, can he do all the processing to get a SSN for me? Is this possible? And also what if I have an agency from CA to process my papers to work in US can it make my documents to process faster so I can go there immediately?

Thank you for reading this thread and I appreciate for any reply.

No my fiancee is not a citizen there. I ask him to call the BON. Thanks Itzallgood.

No Prob.

If he gets his US Citizenship he can petition you, and If work shortly after entry is a priority then marry first and file for a CR-1 IMMIGRANT visa. The CR-1 gets an I-551 stamp on entry, which means you can work as soon as you enter the USA.

Good Luck.

Stupid number?? How insulting!

All US workers/citizens have a "stupid number."

If you cannot respect the way the US chooses to govern itself, perhaps you can just stay where you are.

And remember-- coming to the US is not a right, it's a privilege...

It's a right for some and a privilege for some.

All depends on what type of Visa you enter USA with

Not to go on and on, but I just wanted to correct you.

ALL visas are issued at the discretion of the US government. Hence my statement that entering the US--for any reason--is a privilege granted by the US government. It is not a right.

It is certainly not my intention to be argumentative--I just want to correct the misinformation.

USCIS is the govermental agency that oversees Immigration.

Thus since some Visa Petitioners are either American Companies or American Citizens thus that why it's a right for some.

Other like a tourist or student Visa's are priviliges :twocents:

makes no difference it is still a privilege to get a work/immigrant visa. I have seen several documentations and not just on this site of USC who have married outside the US and their spouse was denied a immigrant visa and lots and lots of hoops had to be jumped through and not all was changed.

Hello all,

I'm not here to create controversy rather gain knowledge about the process. My intention is not to degrade the value of SSN but to show my frustration with it. Nobody knows how frustrating it is unless somebody gets into this kind of situations. I also know that it's a privilege to come to US and work because the way everybody looks US as the land of opportunity. I'm sorry if I've offended with this matter. I should watch out my language.

Would you kindly give me some constructive advice rather than to entangle with these kind of situations?

in your case kanchula, all the while i thought that you have taken your NCLEX and just needed the license to be issued..

why not try NEVADA BON. they don't require SSN upon taking the NCLEX but you need to have it though (the SSN) when you pass the exam so a license can be issued. all state requires that i guess..but not BEFORE taking the NCLEX. try calling NV BON, they have very nice staff willing to answer your queries :-)

Im on the same situation as u are.Im Canadian Citizen, passed my NCLEX, living here in the US with an H4 Visa.

For me to get the SSN I need to have a TN Visa which is very easy but the problem right now Hospitals,Clinics,Nursing Home are not hiring a newly grad or those with no experience.

I suggest you work in the Philippines for awhile, or if your bf is planning to marry you It's nice to do it now so you

can easily work here and u can start working for an on call position.

Hey MJ3lasvegas,

I found out that NEVADA BON doesn't SSN to process my application and sit in NCLEX exam. That's way better than in CO BON where it requires SSN before processing my application. Thanks a lot for you help! I'll apply soon in NEVADA.

Hi MJ3lasvejas,

I passed my NCLEX-RN California State last year. Also have my CG certificate.(qualifying Exam)

I'm taking into consideration asking the CA BRN to forward my results to Nevada, do I have to comply with the CES requirement?

2nd query: If ever Ive done the above thing, what will the Nevada Board of Nursing íssue to me, a license card?

Thank you so much in advance.

Be blest!:)

Yes you need to comply with CES. If they issue a license without a SSN and you meet requirements they will issue you a license. Also remember you can't endorse as you have no license to endorse so need to send in application for license
