library book chaos

I posted a library book in the drop box on friday, and the libary have lost it!

The stupid nit wit, and I use that term, because to give a fuller description would violate the TOS, kept saying to me all the time:

" well if you find it at home bring it in"

I told the woman when, exactly which box, and how many people I was with when I brought the book back but aggghhhh If these imibiciles don't find it, I am going to have to pay for the cost of a replacement book, which is a full days wage....

But the best bit, and to be honest I was in tears in the library today is that until they decided that the book is officially lost and send me a bill, I am acumulating a fine on the book, 25p for the first four days and then fifty pence per day! It is just adding insult to injury. If I refuse to pay they can stop me from finishing my course, well I can finish I just don't get that all important bit of paper!

I thought I had finally figured out a budget and I have worked extra shifts and have more booked, but to cover this I'll need to either stop eating or take a sick day from either uni or placement so I can get an extra shift in somewhere.

The other thing which is niggling me is that I had a bad feeling on friday before I posted the thriced dammed thing, but I ignored it because the queue for the desk was huge and I was in a rush to get to a lecture, I guess I'll learn not to ignore those feelings again.

Just had to rant...i really should buy a diary or actually use my reflective journal instead of chewing all your ears off, but some how once I start writing on here I find it easier than filling in my journal.

Sorry again,

'thrice damned'

Nice to be able to vent in such a dignified manner!

I lost a book recently--I knew it was around somewhere but I couldn't find it. :( So I bought the same book on Amazon, took it in, told them I couldn't find it, here's the very same book, can we call it even--much to my amazement, they did! Of course, it helps that this is the branch library @ which I volunteer ~ 6hrs/wk!

Let's hope the nitwits find it! SOON!!

Mate - go to the library and check the shelves yourself!!! You say you have winesses? Then go to the Dean or someone else and put your case forward. Explain what has happened and explain that because of your tight budget you are unable to pay even if you are guilty - which insist that you are not - but you cannot pay at present and would they accept a deferred payment without you conceding that you are at fault.

I have known of cases before today where the library has insisted that a book is lost but instead it is sitting on the shelf - good luck!!

Thankyou for reading my rant... and all my previous rants. I was just trying to ring the library but no one is answering the phone, I am hoping they could have cctv and maybe that will have seen me posting the book *shrug* who knows, I am not back in uni till next Thursday so they are just going to get a lot of phone calls from me if they don't find it soon.

I did check the shelves in the library but this book is one of only five copies the library has and there is a huge wating list for it, so I think they could have just given it out to someone else without clearing it off of my record first.

From now on I am joining the queue even if i miss all that days lecturers, and only getting cheap boks out rather than the back breakingly expensive ones!!

Oh well I am off to ring the library again, thanks for the sympathetic ears,

I haven't been able to get in touch with the library, they don't seem to realise that of they ring back people who have left messages on the strange talking boxes they will get a greater rating. Or if the person who answers the phone speaks English it would be a plus:

Stepping onto soap box,

Now I try very hard not to be racist and try to be PC, but yesterday when I rang the library the woman who answered the phone spoke barely any English, I resorted to my GCSE French to ask her to pass the phone to someone who spoke English, and then no one else was available... So I am thinking that this has got to be some kind of wind up, but no the woman tells me she is a student who is working in the library, but she can barely speak English, Is it just me that this makes no sense to? I would never dream of going to a country to work or study when I couldn't barely speak the language

But stepping down from soap box,

That got me no where except to revise some of my long forgotten language skills, although she was annoyed that when she swore at me I understood it! (oh and BTW I have put a complaint in about it) So today I get a letter from the library and I was dreading that it would be a bill, I opened it with more care than I open results, and instead it is a reminder for another book, saying it is over due, when it isn't... now today I have been on a double shift and should really be in bed, so I never got a chance to go into the library; but I checked my account on line. I have NO over due books, and the lost book has vanished.

I feel a bit put out to be honest, if they have found the book, should I not at least get an apology for them thinking I had lost it, and practicaly scaring me off the course? As it is I turned down a venapuncture course which I would have loved to attend so I could get an extra paid shift in, however I don't want to tempt fortuna, in case they have forgotten that they think I have lost the book.

Just wanted to keep you in the know.

By some miracle, the book has tuned up! :) I got an apology for it as well, although they called the book cancer acre (and for once it is not my typing error!)

Which means I can but my extra shift money to one side, and hopefuly use it to get down to London, or maybe use it for next year (fingers crossed?) if I get as far as having to pay for registering
