If I opt for NY...

If I choose NY for initial licensure, when must I have accomplished the 2 on-line classes ($15 is expensive and i need time to recover from all the mistakes I am trying to correct..) on child abuse and infection? Can I take it when I am in the States already? Is this something everyone must do? Are there other options? Just curious. Thanks in advance!

I checked my CGFNS account and the status for my CVS is "REPORT ISSUED", so am I right that they already forwarded my documents to NYSED?

How long do the NCLEX-NY usually issue the ETT and how many months is the ATT valid? Is it the same with California which is valid for a year, unlike New Mexico which is only for 3 months? Because since they have just issued my CVS to the NYSED, I might work first while waiting.

In my case the cvs was released to NY in june, I recieved my eligibility to test in august, registered for nclex, and am still waiting for my att. I initially sent my application to NY/CGFNS in october '06, so pushing 15 months and still not taken nclex, and will not find an employer to petition me even if I pass, so will have to endorse to another state anyway. In short international nurses heed my advice, steer well clear of NY. What was I thinking!!!!!:imdbb::banghead:

I would suggest working any way as with retrogression you are currently looking at 5 years approx before coming to the US and that is if you are lucky as demand is very high and passing NCLEX is no longer a guarantee on getting a GC

I have a question regarding Child Abuse Training. Do I still need to undergo this training even if I will be working soon to a nursing home in NY?

It is a requirement for the license so yes

Also, please clarify "will be working soon in NY." There is retrogression right now for GC and as far as I know there is no facility (hospital or nursing home) that is qualified for H1C visa in NY either so I do not know how this is even possible.

This is just to get you informed and not meant to let you down or anything. Hope your agency is not telling you that you can have a working visa for a nurse because it's not possible.

You need to contact NY and have them send the approval again to Pearson-Vue. You should have had the ATT months ago.

sometime glitches do happen and the only way to get this fixed is to contact them. suggest that you actually phone them about 0830 when they open and you can reach a human.

Yes, they have forwarded your results to the Board. NCLEX is an exam and the ATT is actually sent out by Pearson-Vue, it does not come from the BON.

States are always changing their window of testing, you need to check with them to find out if there have been any changes.
