sorry to hear that, there are a few threads on this and would probably be better to do it again. Either way you have to declare that you took it and failed, much better to say took it and passed

Depends on the State. What State do you plan to apply NCLEX eligibility?

Hi shikimurei! There's a lot of posts that discusses this issue. You better check it out. Even if you will not be needing it when you take the NCLEX, it is still considered as a basic requirement for your VisaScreen application. :spin:

The local license is not needed in the Visa Screen certification as well as long as the nurse never took the exam.

If she took it it would be a diff. story. She will then have to show that she passed the said exam.

Hi lawrence! just a quick, dumb question.
If that is the case, why can't the June 2006 examinees apply for the VisaScreen certification? I mean, can't they just state that they didn't took the exam? Thanks for clarifying...

    That's a good question, actually.

No, they can't state that they didn't take the exam. That will be considered fraud/mis-representation. That's why if you ever took the exam, you are obliged to disclose it and show proof that you passed it BUT if one never ever took it then s/he then can make a letter of explanation that s/he doesn't have a local license by virtue that s/he didn't take the NLE for the reason that s/he doesn't have plans to practice as a RN in the Philippines. Pretty much the same thing when people apply to CA BRN and other States. You can be made eligible to take the NCLEX directly w/o a local license as long as you have a valid reason.

Many people are asking the same question as you are as most are thinking of the same thing after CGFNS finally gave the decision w/c is why I gave a friendly reminder in the Phil. forum, as a precautionary measure, that doing such thing would be considered fraud or mis-representation. Ignorance of the law could not be made as an excuse for breaking it.

Sorry, but incorrect information. No where does it state that you must have a license in your local country for immigration purposes. Only the CGFNS exam requires that the nurse took the local exam, for no other CGFNS application.

And remember that in the Philippines they post the name of all that passed that exam. To withhold information like that is definitely considered fraud and grounds for them taking away the VSC and actually deporting the nurse. And they are doing that now.

You would be falsifying information that goes to the US government and that can get you in plenty of hot water.

Well I was thinking of California or Canada. I did take the board exam before but dint pass. I dont want to take it again because of the issues of the NLE. So I was thinking of just taking the NCLEX because I was thinking my chances would be better. I hope so...

The US requires a Visa Screen Certificate for immigration purposes. If you took that exam, it needs to be listed.

Canada has their own rules and immigration policies. And most provinces there require a local license.

umm...ok.would this mean that it's still ok if I just take the NCLEX?

You can still take the NCLEX. Some of the June 2006 passers have actually taken it and passed it but will not be issued Visa Screen Certificates for their immigration purposes to work legally. So, you will still need to re-take the exam if you want a Visa Screen Certificate.
