I would like to get insights from Pinay nurses who work as nurses. How is it like?

I would appreciate your responses. Thanks.

You would get more responses if you post this in the Philippine nurses forum.

Hi Suzanne,

Particularly how's the environment, the stress, the duties, the pay. I've read so many things about nursing ... horrible stories. But then, I hear some Pinays say that their jobs are no-brainers or something. Like they are earning so much for doing so little. Then I thought how come there are few Americans who go into nursing if that were the case. I am confused.

Nursing is a very stressful job and Americans have a lot of choices with less stressful jobs that pays decently.

I've worked in different jobs in the Philippines so i can say that you can earn decent amount of money in the US as a nurse if you are willing to work long hours in a stressful environment. There are not many jobs in the Philippines where you can earn well without working hard.

The pay in the Philippines is lousy, that is why many wish to leave and work in another country. It is not an easy job in any country if you are working at the bedside. And you need to get your feet wet as a bedside nurse to move up to other positions. And then there are those that always prefer the bedside role.

There are many options, and even in the US, the pay can vary greatly.

Nursing is not specific to any one country, suggest that you have a look at some of the other threads on the general boards about nursing and see if it is something that you truly wish to do. You will be getting your hands dirty, cleaning up poop and every other body fluid that there is. Holding a patient's hand as they take their last breath. Taking care of the family as well, they can need as much support as your actual patients do.
