I sent my application to NM BON and once approved i will file for an endorsement to Cali BON..has anyone here been through that process? How long did it take you to get approval? Were you able to get your license without an SS#? For those who applied for work in CAli how long did it take for you to immigrate? Is it true that it takes longer than most states?

You cannot endorse until after you have taken and passed NCLEX-RN and actually have a license number to endorse.

You can get a temporary license in one day, if CA has the required information already on file for you. And the permanent license is sent out about one wek after you give them a SSN#.

Will i be able to work in CA with a temporary license? How will i be eligible for an SS#? :) Thanks Suzanne

Social Security Number is what we use to pay taxes from. You cannot work anywhere inthe US until you get one, and you will not be able to apply for it until you arte in the US and ready to begin work, done with immigration procedures. It only takes about one week to get.

So, you cannot begin work at all until you have that SSN#.

so you will not be able to get your CA license not until you have the ssn and be in the US...?

what then happen to the application?

after an applicant passes the nclex-rn exam through the california board of nursing, a letter is sent to the applicant stating that a social security number (ssn) is required before a permanent license is issued.

the letter from the california board of nursing also states that the ssn must be provided within a 3-year window or the applicant’s file will be considered abandoned and destroyed.

ssn can be obtain either on working visa or thru immigrant visa ( green card) and ready to work in the usa.

Much has already been written about California and what happens after you complete requirements and pass NCLEX suggest a good read
