Hi

this might sound like a thick question but its a lot of money so want to get it right.

I have a degree unrelated to nursing but do not have a diploma in nursing but I am level 1 RN (I do meet the relevant criteria eg mental health etc)

Under the Credential Evaluation Service should I apply for the full educational or the healthcare profession evaluation?

Cheers

As far as I know, and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but it depends on what BON you are going through and what they require. On the BON sites under examination information it will tell you for e.g. Georgia Board require Healthcare Professions Course by Course report. Hope this helps.

Specializes in RN, BSN, CHDN.

Hi Kay, the other Kay here,

Are you completly going it alone have you not taken any other professional advice or just relying on information posted here?

I admire you for your courage and wish I had taken bull by the horns like you.

There is a link to an attorney on here who has good web site for loads of infomation regarding Health care professionals. I will find it and post it to you.

How is the studying going?

Kay :)

With CGFNS credentials evaluation, it depends on which state that you are applying to, but keep in mind you are a nurse, the Health-Care Professional usually is for pharmacists and physical therapists. There are several different credentials reviews, including the separate for NY.

I still highly recommend that all of you do the one for NY, it is by far the easiest and saves you a lot of time from running around trying to get documents.

Hi Kay # 2,

You are right to do your research before parting with your money, take it from one who knows. My best advice to you would be to decide on which State you will apply to, contact them, and be guided by their criteria.

Good luck :)

Hi

Well I'm planning on completely going it alone - hence lots of stupid questions on here!! :chuckle But i'm not in a big rush to get over there, my daughter has just started her GCSE's and I might even wait untill she has done her A's but not decided yet!! On the other hand I don't want to leave it too late - getting older by the year :crying2:

OK - I'm going to go via the NY BON - soooo my next question is which credentials thing do I need to do for the NY BON as I understand that I need to go throught the CGFNS to do it?

Thankyou thankyou thankyou x x x x x :)

Wise choice Kay, going via NY. Wish I'd known then what I know now, but hey, everything happens for a reason I suppose. By applying to NY you won't have half as much trouble with CGFNS.

Oh and those 2 years between GCSE's and 'A's will fly by, you are so doing the right thing allowing yourself this time frame. Wonder how long it will be before you get as frustrated as the rest of us Brits? :chuckle

On the CGFNS website, there is a special Credentials Verification for NY. You need this application, as well as the Visa Screen. If you do it this way, they can use the same documents for both...........then the only other application that you need is the actual application from NY BON.

Just the three, and that will take care of everthing that you need. :)

Ok I'll try and find it - thanks

Quite easy to do..............
