Hi everyone!

I have received my CPNE may result and I was so upset because I failed 2 points. Is anybody in Ontario CPNE taker and has the same situation? It is posible to ask for recount my score?

Can anybody give me an advise.

How do you know you failed by only 2 points? I thought the result was strictly pass/fail.

I highly doubt you can get a recount done.

I sense that english is not your primary language. Perhaps you should brush up on your reading comprehension skills before taking the exam again. You must have a high level of reading comprehension in order to pass the exam.

I'm so sorry to here that. With 2 points I would ask for a recount. I think it was on here a girl said she could not get a recount because it was by 20 points she failed. But with only 2, you deserve the peace of mind. Was it your first time?

if your score was close to the pass mark, it would have been remarked before the results were sent to you, see cpnre's re-write brochure, "borderline test results- those with a total number correct answers close to the standard (pass mark) are remarked by hand to confirm the number of correct answers"

http://www.cpnre.ca/documents/re-write%20brochure%20en_final2010.pdf

if you still want another remark, you can ask the cno, there is a fee for the service, see cpnre exam results frequently asked questions http://www.cpnre.ca/examresults_e.asp

if you re-write the exam in the future, the re-write brochure offers some good advice about what you can differently next time.

wow that really stinks. Failing by 2 points seems too close. I would stongly suggest that you ask for a manual count if that possible. You may very likely pass given that your results were so close to pass. Good luck and let me know how its goes

They aren't going to change their minds because "your results were so close ". The well being and safety of the public is at stake.

Hi pnoytoronto, Its ok to request for a recount but it will take so much of the time, I dont know how long for them to send you back the result but that might cause you some dilemma for applying on the next scheduled exam... basically, the situation is gonna be like... the deadline for you to submit your application, payment etc etc for the next exam date is coming, but you are still waiting for the recount results.. Hopefully you will come with a wise decision

Thank you guys for your advice and comments.

It was my second time to write the exam. The CNO allows me to requests for hand-scoring of my answer sheet but there a service fee though.

I can't decide if I'll take again next CPNE (september) or I'll wait the January CPNE.

If its the second time you failed then you really need to work on your reading comprehension skills.

You might know the material being tested but if you can't comprehend what the question is asking then you will have a difficult time choosing the correct answer.

Check out your local community college and take a basic english literature class.

take it again, every nurses already have the knowledge and we are all equally great, the difference in my opinion is the test taking strategies which separates the examinees... I understand the stress, and u should fight that negative feeling with ur Burning Pride, dont let this exam beat u twice or thrice, there will always be a way to spank this exam's a**! lol!:smokin:

Just study hard and work on your comprehension and test taking skills. You have to make sure that you fully comprehend what the questions are asking, otherwise its easy to make silly mistakes. Do lots of practice tests with rationales. Study the rationales, and really understand why the answer is right or wrong. This will help you with your comprehension ability, as you will develop a better understanding on what the questions are asking while reinforcing your knowledge. Good luck
