I know i have already posted something about this,, but i thoughtit would be a good idea to get some feedback from Canadian nurses as i am a canadian gal myself. How many nurses would consider themselves to be pro life? and how are these beliefs honored in the profession?

If you are interested in learning how nurses can honour their personal pro life beliefs in the workplace, I suggest you read the Canadian Nurses Code of Ethics p 43 Ethical considerations in addressing expectations that are in conflict with one's conscience

Speaking from a Canadian point of view, I am offended by your query on Three fronts.

1. Always spell the name of your country with a capital C, thank you very much.

2. Let others know you are French Canadian and that is the reason your spelling is atrocious (or at least use spell check for crying out loud).

3. All nurses, regardless of nationality, religion, or gender SHOULD embrace the patient's right of CHOICE (pro-life and pro-choice included).

hey, play nice! i see so many spelling errors out there, that any more i ignore them. just embrace the fact that we have another canadian nurse on board who is willing to question and/or share their views, regardless of french or english speaking.

wow...harsh...kind of cruel actually. do you feel better now that you berated another person over something as silly as spelling? do you go through all the posts looking for spelling mistakes or just the ones from french canadians?!! nothing like having a little temper tantrum for all the world to see... you are offended by the op's atrocious spelling, well i am offended by your use of a capital t on three fronts...ooops...you're not perfect either!

p.s. if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all...thank you very much!

LOL! I am truly impressed!!!

I do, with the utmost sincerity, apologize to the writer and all French Canadians every where.

That was a nasty little remark on my part, however please allow me to put the comment in perspective.

It was my intent to provide an excuse to the writer, that perhaps English were their second language and French their first (thus the reason behind the multiple grammatical errors and spelling mistakes).

Je suis vraiment s'excuser pour tout malentendu.

Perhaps I was looking to be a bully, I'm very sorry.

lol i am sorry, i am always doing a thousand things at once on the computer. i am from Canada, with a capital C. No i am not French Canadian, but i probably would not feel the need to state that if i were, Canadian is Canadian right? We are very multicultural... and it is okay haha. Get this, i am actually an English minor right now (hehehe)..lol i will even admit that!

yeah it was not atrocious!! :)

I am just saying, i do not want to take part in abortion procedures... i want to stay out of it! That is what I meant, and alot of people are talking about women's right to choose, well how about the doctor and other healthcare professional's rights to choose not to partake in abortions...Which i believe they do have that choice, and hopefully always will.

Well, don't apply for positions on the Gynie Unit. It's that simple. After obtaining your practice permit you do not apply to work Gynie or at the Morgentaler Clinics.

No need to make a fuss over it. Use common sense

Well you would think that common sense should be enough but from what some people have told me there would be almost nowhere to work to avoid it. But thank you, I think it will be okay too. I am glad I have written on here and am thinking that maybe next fall or the year after I will start to take courses hopefully in the summer if possible and part time during the year while i teach part time to work towards a BN.

Specializes in NICU, PICU, PCVICU and peds oncology.

I've worked as an RN for 15 years and have NEVER been in a position to have to refuse to take part in an abortion.
